Private rooms have a tv but I didn't turn it on. All rooms have private bathrooms but obviously if you're in a dorm youll share with others. Private room for four was $56 and dorms were $14. Food at the bar was fine and pretty cheap. Free wifi and also a computer available although it was broken when I stayed. I just used the wifi which was very fast. We arranged all our tours through the hostel and they were great.

We had one problem at this hostel: when we used their laundry service,
the hostel did not return a part of our laundry (3 shirts and 3 shorts and some underwear). The laundry went missing and they had no idea where it went. We had a discussion and as a compensation they dropped a part of our bill which covered a large part of the value of the missing laundry. This was not the perfect scenario however I feel that this solution was fair to all parties. The staff was very helpful and professional and looked for possible solutions in this situation. They claimed that this was the first time that this happened and I believe them since they were clearly upset and uncomfortable about the whole situation. I believe that every member of the staff that I met (reception and housekeeping) was honest and trustworthy so I am positive that nobody from the staff took it. The hostel is secure as well, they have gates and a night guard so it remains a mystery what happened to our clothes... My guess is that it was wrongly given to an other guest but frankly I do not have a clue.

Now on a positive note: Apart from this situation this was probably the best hostel we stayed in during our trip in Costa Rica. The rooms and property are very clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the host Jesse. The first night they threw a good all-you-can-eat BBQ for $8 and the second night they arranged a free trip to a natural hot spring which was  a lot of fun and a good alternative to the expensive hot spring spas.

I would highly recommend this hostel to everyone visiting La Fortunal. The view on the volcano from your porch in the rocking chairs is stunning.  Normally I would rate the hostel as excellent, the laundry issue drops the score to very good since the staff handled this well. I guess we were just unlucky, on the other hand, the laundry we did get back was very clean ;-)

Definitly one of the top hotel we've stayed during our trip to Costa Rica.
Rooms are exactly what you are looking for big, clean, hot water,A/C and very secured.
The host ( Jesse ) was by far the coolest dude we're met ! Laid back and always there to help you out with tours, taxi or everything you need.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here in June for a couple of days, it didnt look very nice from the outside but once we went inside it wasnt what we expected in a really positive way, we stayed at 4 other hotels around costa rica and this one was one of the best for the price. The room was really big and we had a nice view from the second floor. I would definitely stay there again. Oh and the workers were super nice and recommended places we could visit for free.
