This trip to Costa Rica was for business and this place fit or budget. It's a nice small hotel close to everything. The owners are super helpful, accommodating in every way. The rooms could have been cleaner but the being and bathroom were great. There is a meeting area in the center of the hotel were you can use the fridge and microwave. There is free wifi and security cameras for safety, although I never felt unsafe. La fortuna is a very safe little town. The beds in unit#3 could have been better

We liked our stay for two nights here. Honestly, next time, we would have stayed one night then continued towards the beach and stayed somewhere along the lake. This was a real nice place and Luis the manager is the best. he stayed for many years in the US and came to La Fortuna because the pace is slower. No doubt. yes its a minimal hotel. Luis said he could have gotten us $30 tickets each for Baldi hot springs. be SURE to take him up on the offer. After buying on Kayak.com, he gave us a better deal the next night. Be sure to tip people in CR! it pays off.

Spent few nights in room 1 - hopefully others are not much worse.

Positive side - decent location, clean room, cheap rates (was like $42/night), management is friendly and speak English, available parking.

Areas for improvement - virtually no furniture in the room - no closet, really had to live out of the bag. Wall between bathroom and the room itself is not all the way to the ceiling - all the bathroom sounds and "aroma" are shared freely. Shower temperature is tricky to regulate and the water easily travels to the room - expect puddles. Sounds from other rooms are very well heard - cardboard walls don't do much in this respect. 13" TV nowadays looks kinda antique. Door locks require some mechanical skills to operate and your luck in actually locking the room from outside depends on humidity level.

All in all it was OK, we were not there to spend much time indoors anyways.

The owner is very nice and helpful guy. They made me feel like i was at home. I actually moved from Baldi Resort & Spa to this place. Staying here made everything so easy. Room was simple, nothing fancy but clean, which is fair ($35 - high season). I was able to walk anywhere from this place.
