Hike and climb to the viewing area were enjoyable.Got to see a sloth and her baby. Thorough explanation of the Arnel Volcano without getting too technical. Kept things interesting. Transportation nice and reputable.

“Groupon Deal 5 day/4 night package with Casa Luna Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Got a deal through groupon for the "Adventure-Lover's" Package for 2 people with 5 days/4 nights at the Casa Luna hotel for $999 (without airfare); Also included airport transfers (would cost $115 each way for cab ride otherwise, 3 hour ride each way), a full day tour of: horseback riding, ziplining, etc. and another day of rafting, etc. Loved the tours, quality of tours, tourguides, drivers, etc. all very knowledgeable and friendly. Only thing is the "hot springs" was not a an actual hot springs, more like a jacuzzi style set of several pools, but still nice. Food was included, very tasty. Overall Ecoterra provided great tours, reasonably priced (even without the groupon) and excellent service. I purchased a tour of the Hanging Bridges with them and it was totally worth it. Stayed at Casa Luna Hotel which works with Ecoterra directly, also recommend that hotel. Would highly recommened, you get your money's worth as well as a fantastic and memorable time.

“5 Day/4 Night Groupon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

We bought the Groupon Ecoterra package that included 4 nights at Casa Luna Lodge, transportation to and from the airport, ziplining, rafting, and a cultural tour. Even on the ride from the airport, our driver pulled over to show us the wildlife in the jungle on the side of the road. We stopped for a good lunch along the way, too. We went rafting on the Balsa River on our second day, which was a lot of fun. My only complaint about this part of the trip was that we were put into a raft with a group of people that had already completed half of their tour with class 3 and 4 rapids. The remainder of the rafting trip was class 2 and 3 rapids, but I would have liked to have done the whole thing. We went to an organic farm as well for lunch on that day. We ended up paying extra to take the Arenal Hanging Bridges tour with Ecoterra on our 3rd day. This was probably one of the highlights of the trip. I would highly recommend taking this tour through the different levels of the rainforest. On the 4th day, we were taken to a nearby resort for horseback riding, ziplining, and the hot springs. All were great.

Casa Luna Lodge was a nice hotel. It was just outside of the town of La Fortuna, but definitely within walking distance or a short cab ride. The restaurant at the hotel was fine, but it did get a little old after a few days. The views at the hotel are awesome, although Arenal Volcano was covered in clouds for all but about 20 minutes of our stay. The spa was good, too.

Overall, I would highly recommend taking tours with Ecoterra. Everyone we interacted with was extremely friendly and professional and always looking to share a piece of Costa Rica history or interesting fact about the area.

“5 day/4 night Groupon package”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Ecoterra and Casa Luna did an excellent job on this 5 day package for two for $885 USD. This started with the transfer from the San Jose airport and the 3 hour drive to La Fortuna. We were surprised that even the transfer had a guide and along the way we stopped a few times to watch toucans and other birds.

The hotel was excellent but 2 km out of town so dining options are limited. The hotel restaurant is fine, but the menu is a bit limited after a couple days there. $5 cab into town, so that's not bad. Excellent pool. The hotel is also only a 30 minute walk from the waterfall, which is a very good way to spend half a day.

Our package included rafting on the Balsa River and a visit to an organic farm one day, and horseback riding, ziplining and hotsprings the other day.
