“Staff were great and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

This was recommended to us by one of our hotel staff. We had reasonably priced (relatively speaking) food. With local and more western food both available. The service was attentive, but it took a little bit of extra time on our second visit as we happened to overlap with a tour group of about 20. Has a good view of the volcano, when the clouds aren't covering it.

“Go for the Baccio Perugina”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

Good, not great, pizza. Good value and very nice staff. Amazing desert, Baccio Perugina, takes a few minutes to make and well worth the wait. Nice looking restaurant, covered yet open air.

“Wonderful Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

When we were disappointed in the menu at our hotel, Arenal Paraiso, we decided to head over to Que Rico. It was a delightful evening. Excellent Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile and a great pizza (best we've had in Costa Rica). Excellent service as well. A bright spot in an otherwise rainy stay at Arenal.

“Beware the Express/Delivery”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

So this may be my own fault but I wanted to warn others.

We were staying in the Volcano Lodge just up the road and didn't feel like leaving or eating the hotel restaurant. I called Que Rico Aqui to order pizza for carryout and they asked my hotel and said they could deliver it if I wanted. Sounded great so I gave them my hotel and room number and the pizza showed up in a reasonable amount of time. I was taken aback by the amount the driver stated so I looked at the receipt...8000 Colones/$16 for delivery! That was more than the pizza itself and to top it off the restaurant is maybe a half mile from the hotel.

Dear Customer,
We thank you for your comments and that you have taken the time to provide us with your feedback and the opportunity for us to improve our service.
Our delivery service to your hotel (Hotel Volcano Lodge) normally takes 30 minutes from the time your pizza is ordered until the time it is delivered, and the cost is $3 (¢1500). Why then was the delivery time and cost so much higher in your case?
Unfortunately, I remember this was a chain of mistakes, and we have already taken action to be sure situations like this do not happen again.
1) The person who took your order understood that the delivery was to be to Hotel Arenal Lodge – which is located 20 minutes away and has a cost of ¢8000 or $16 for the transportation).
2) Our driver went to Hotel Arenal Lodge to deliver the pizza, and was unable to locate the client. Since there is no cell phone coverage in that area, he decides to wait a few minutes for the customer to show up.
3) Hotel Volcano Lodge calls the restaurant to report that their Customer has been waiting a longer time than normal for their pizza. This is when the error is identified, that the delivery should have been to Hotel Volcano Lodge and not Hotel Arenal Lodge.
4) The driver is contacted and drives the 20 minutes back to deliver the pizza to you. He doesn´t remember that the delivery charge is wrong due to the hotel confusion and that you should be charged only $3 not $16.
5) When he returns to the restaurant, it is closed, and he reports everything the following day… to late to resolve properly.
Thanks to your report we were able to better our delivery service procedures to avoid further confusions. The confusion in this case, occurred due to the very similar names of several hotels in the area. (Hotel Volcano Lodge and Hotel Arenal Lodge ).
We are truly sorry for the inconvenience that you suffered. Please contact us by email at info@quericoarenal.com, so that we can proceed to refund your entire purchase price. We know this is only a small effort to improve the situation, we hope you understand that we are very embarrassed about what happened and that our customers’ satisfaction is very important. Again we thank you for your reporting this situation and we look forward to your email.
