My youngest and I were guests here on a Workaway.info to immerse youngest in more conversational Spanish. Planning was easy and communications well. La Princesa is a gem. Imagine hiking, learning about plants, swimming in a pool, eating breakfast or dinner made by staff, seeing the stars, playing in the stream and climbing down to the waterfall. Relax in the main house with 2 king suites overlooking the forest with the beautiful open concept or any of the other 3 king suites or the 3 bedroom cottage on the property. Rainy season for us on the visit, but it allowed us to see the forest in action with the birds and wildlife when sun breaks out after a short rain. Connected with a great tour group and taxi's and employees of Princesa and made our trip the best ever. We shall return and eat their fruit again and mingle with guests and more. I think what we liked best...Only 15 minutes from downtown and it was great to tour and explore cocoa farm, volcano, hot springs, town and more and then retreat to a quiet place that let you relax and enjoy the real Costa Rica.

Room Tip: Stay in the main lodge if you are 4-5 for views and 10-20 take over the whole place and enjoy!!!!

Princesa de la Luna Eco Lodge is a beautiful two story spacious lodge with a huge balcony which overlooks 10 acres of rainforest. The view is spectacular. The lodge has large rooms with plenty of glass, huge beds and a very artistic feel with sculptures and rustic ornaments .The food serves were extremely generous, healthy and fresh. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Birds can be seen from the balcony. The garden forest trails were lovely to walk through.

I've loved our stay here. If you are addicted to AC, and don't like bugs or dogs (the dog, Chiquita is super sweet, and they do offer to put her away for people that would prefer, but we love her!)...go somewhere else. For my family and I, this place is a gem. The meals prepared here in the open air kitchen are fantastic. Nothing has been bad. Fresh pineapple/star fruit juice, eggs, rice, beans, plantains, salsa, banana pancakes, steamed veggies, pork chops...just some of the yummies we've had here. The staff and volunteers are courteous and helpful. William, our main host is a perfect one. The grounds are rustic, mostly unkept, and beautiful. They do have many fruit trees on the property that you can eat from, as well as sugarcane. The hike to the pool is a good one, and to the waterfall, even better. If you have the option when making your reservation, choose the main house rooms adjacent to the balcony. We stayed in a cabin our first night, and while comfy, I like the main house rooms better. They also have hot water, while our cabin did not...but the cold shower was nice too! The road leading up to the property is rough, but so are many roads in Costa Rica from my experience. The first day here we had a cloudless view of the Arenal volcano from the balcony, but since it's been covered in clouds. Nature's rules. I'd stay here again for sure!

Room Tip: Not all rooms have good wifi, but it is available in certain areas/rooms.

A lovely setting with beautiful views, along with a kind and hardworking host equates to a wonderful stay at the Princesa de la Luna Ecolodge. Remember: this is not the Marriott! The Princesa is in the middle of a jungle/rainforest with no hard walls throughout most of the complex, so there is bound to be some dust and spiders. Don't get me wrong...I love the 5 star hotels, but this was our stay in the jungle and we were prepared for what comes with a stay in the jungle. Our host, Jonathon, worked very hard to make it a wonderful 2 night stay for our family of 5 (3 teenagers and mom and dad). Breakfasts were wonderful and we explored and walked around the lush and beautiful property, hiked to the top of a volcano and found a beautiful private lake, went ziplining and enjoyed the stunning views of Arenal. Our family will always remember our fabulous stay at the Princesa de la Luna!

Princesa de la Luna Ecolodge is a beautiful permacultural ecolodge near La Fortuna in Costa Rica. Perfectly quiet, waking up with the sound of singing birds and monkeys. The food is mainly local style food of high quality. From the ecolodge you have a precious sight of the Arenal volcano.

The perfect place to relax, or to celebrate your honeymoon, for the owner specializes in honeymoons.

there´s really no more to say than: Just excellent!

Great location, feels like a jungle but only 10 minutes from La Fortuna. Service was excellent and accommodations were clean. Lots of open space and relaxing areas. Will go back anytime.
