“Impressive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2011

The Springs was over-the-top in size and opulence. The resort and its rooms are new, beautifully appointed, comfortable, and luxurious. The springs themselves are fabulous. We tried soaking in all of them and enjoyed turning our fingers into prunes with our long, comfy soaks. Because the hotel was not crowded, many of the pools were our own private haven for a little while. The volcano was often obscured by clouds, so the main proof we had about the geothermal activity was the hot spring water. The food in the upscale "reservations only" restaurant on the premises was good, but the lunch and dinner menus in the other restaurants were disappointing. We had better meals in Costa Rica in little diners along the road than the food here. We did two on-property excursions: horseback riding and ATV riding, and thought both of them were great, and reasonably priced for what you got. The spa was another treat - beautifully appointed and with capable staff. Overall, service was a bit of a disappointment: the staff were pleasant but we often had to repeat requests (for milk in coffee, for the check, etc.) before we got what we wanted. There was little sense of the hotel anticipating our needs (for example, they did not communicate to housekeeping when we were out of the room on the horses or ATV, so housekeeping tried to make up our room when we were in the room.) The minibar was not refilled during our 2-night stay. I think we were picky about the service because we had just come from the Gaia Hotel in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, which has the best service on the planet! But overall, The Springs was a lovely experience.

The resort was incredible! So beautiful with it's amazing views of the steaming volcano. The hot springs were luxurious and quite private. The food was amazing. The beds and linens were sooooo comfortable and the rooms were very quiet. The staff was very friendly, especially in the beautiful spa. And not that there is any reason to leave the resort, but you are only 20 min from town for a night out. My husband and I are very picky about where we stay and we both agree that we would return to the Springs in a heartbeat!

There may be other places that offer ' a paradise on earth' experience, but I think you would find it difficult if not impossible to find one that even comes close to the exquisite Springs.

This is the most spectacular place and experience... nestled in the Rain Forest of Costa Rica with the powerful presence of the volcano watching over its guests, The Springs offers everything you could possibly want in a dream get-a-way.

The staff welcomes you as warmly as the multitude of hot springs on the property... and there is as much or as little as you would like to do. Nature hikes, river rafting, horseback riding and some of the very best food and drink we have ever had the pleasure of enjoying!

Not to mention the incredible SPA! My husband and I and two other couples spent three unforgettable days and nights at The Springs and would recommend this luscious resort to anyone needing the perfect get-a-way!

My girlfriend and I just returned from the Springs resort this past weekend and I can not say how impressed I was with the place! From the moment you walk into the lobby you can see the amount of detail that was put into this resort. We were greeted with a welcome drink and given a private tour of the facility before being guided to our room which was just below the main building. The room had an amzing veiw of the volcano from our patio hammocks which were extremly comfortable and relaxing.

Johnny was great in setting up many excursions from Waterfall Rappeling, Canopy Tours through the rain forest, Tours of the wildlife perserve and Horseback ridding! When we were not on a scheduled tour we spent every minute bouncing from one hot spring to the other at the resort and took a few breaks at the pool bar over looking the mountains in the distance!

All and all we could not have asked for a better experience, we will be back in the near future to enjoy it again!!!

And I can't forget the Sushi was the best I have ever had!

The views are breathtaking, the food was excellent every time, the service was first class and the amenities were the best. This a very special resort that is well worth the trip up from San Jose. The most distinguishing feature is the attention detail, every detail; the facility, service and creature comforts.

This hotel has got to be the absolute best! From the moment we set foot in the lobby we could not believe our eyes. The views of the volcano are stunning. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the volcano and the vaulted ceilings, the furniture and the to-die-for bathroom with the sunken jacuzzi tub were just divine. The staff (Alan, Jorge,) and everyone made us feel so welcome. Every request was done with a smile. We had massages in the spa and it was just heavenly, Having worked for 20 years in the hotel industry, I know real customer service when I see it . I highly recommend this hotel without any hesitation.

What a gorgeous hotel! We talk about this hotel often...even months later. We had great food, the staff was so helpful, and when we went at the beginning of June, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Everything was so clean, the views of the volcano were gorgeous, and the passion fruit they offer upon arrival is my favorite juice to this day. The room views are stunning and the vibrantly colored birds in the garden a little ways away from the window were constantly drawing our attention. We loved this place! It's our favorite place we have ever been!
