“Loved...loved...loved this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

My husband travels for a living and said this was the best hotel he has ever stayed at. It was beautiful!!! The people were so friendly and the staff were great! The tubing was exciting and fun. Even our 7 year old talks about that adventure. The zoo was really neat and you could take pictures of the animals from just a few feet away. The hot springs were amazing and soooo relaxing. We went in June during the "green" season, and is rained almost every afternoon around 3ish but usually cleared up around 7pm. It was beautiful and warm even in the rain. If you do activities in the morning you most likely enjoy a sunny day! I emailed the hotels concierge the week before we arrived to make sure I didn't need to pre-book our activities. Your could charge everything to your hotel (all activities, food, and drinks) and we just paid for it at check-out. The water smells fresh and is safe to drink and the food was really good. They had chicken strips & fries for the kids too! Our trip to Costa Rica and The Springs Resort & Spa was an amazing experience I will never forget. (From South Dakota, USA)

We traveled to Costa Rica in June 29-July 9th. We stayed at the Springs. Our room was the Two Bedroom Oropendola Suite (2 Levels). Perfect for a family of 4. Our view was just breathtaking! We had our space and the kids had theirs. Everyday our room had a beautiful arrangement of flowers. All the flowers were from the property. Just beautiful! The spa was fabulous as well. My massage was so great!
We had many excursions off the property that we arranged with concierge before we arrived. All awesome! if you choose not to leave the resort, no worries because the place has so much to do. Club Rio was just beautiful. We tubed, went horseback riding, rocked climbed and hiked the area. The entire staff from pool side bar, House keeping(so trust worthy) restaurants, Club Rio etc. was just fantastic! Entire staff always smiling. Love working there and all say how much they love the owner "Lee Banks". We have our own business and we know how important it is for your employees to like you. If you are good to your employees they will be good to you and your business.
What you read and see online on their website is exactly what the place looks like, maybe even better in person. I HIGHLY recommend The Springs!

The Peace Lodge is the sister lodge of the Springs and was just another amazing Hotel in the rainforest. Again fantastic staff all the way! They have all kinds of exotic animals that you get to see. One we truly enjoyed was the night tour of the frog enclosure. It was raining and instead of walking or canceling the tour they picked us up in front of our room and drove us to the frog enclosure. You can trout fish on the property. My husband and son loved that. We had a tour of the falls, the volcano and the coffee plantation. All so fun and interesting.
We want to move to Costa Rica. We will definitely go back!

Room Tip: Make sure you get your room on a higher level to have a better view.

This place is the next best thing to paradise! We had our own villa. There is free WiFi. The food is excellent, but the best part is the hot springs. Sitting under the waterfall is better than any masseuse! Beautiful place

Awesome resort that my family LOVED! They had everything on-site including their own private zoo with animals that the owner saved from being euthanized. The hot springs pools located around the grounds were amazing. There's even a slide for the kids to enjoy. There's tubing, horseback riding and more. It has a fabulous view of the volcano as well. There was no reason to leave the property for meals since the food was delicious. The nearby ziplining experience is one of a kind...highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We had a family style room with a loft. Plenty of space and everything was within walking distance.

Probably a 20 minute shuttle drive from the airstrip. The location is great - you really don't need to leave. You have a perfect view of the volcanoe - well when its not misted over. It rained a lot while we were there but that wasn't a problem as the hot springs are great for rainy weather. You can simply enjoy cocktails from the thermal pools. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished with awesome balconies to enjoy sunset downers or an evening meal (if you manage to get hold of room service). There is also loads to do if you add in the adventure portion of the resort where you can do the complimentary Wildlife Preserve - Tocans, Puma's, Croc's and more. Due to the rain the kayaking was cancelled on day 1 but we managed to fit it in on our last day - which was great fun. We might have done a few more excusion if it wasn't raining. We made use of the spa which was wonderful.
Our only negative was some of the FNB service. It probably took us an hour to get hold of room service and the service at breakfast varied depending on who was on duty and on our first day we couldn't find a conceirge. That being said bus driver to the adventure area was great - he pointed out birds and sloths on the way down. There were also other staff in the team that made up for the few that may need to look into alternate employment. In general Costa Rica seems to have a high service standard.
Breakfast were okay, but the sushi bar and fine dinning restaurants were excellent

Room Tip: Second floor units have great views

The hotel was as beautiful as the brochure. The staff was very attentive all day long! The day trips were full of excitement! I'd highly recommend this resort for a peaceful getaway. The huge spacious rooms were most enjoyable. The jacuzzi tub was a big hit for my teenage son.

All I can say is wow, what a view.
It is an incredible setting for a hotel. The service is wonderful. A top notch hotel in all respects, particularly if you are a family.
I only wish we could stay a little pager to enjoy all the activities at the Club Rio (water tubing, horseback riding, animals).
The springs are great and you can always find a quiet pool, at least when we visited in July.
The only down side is that you are required to walk quite a bit up and down stairs. This is great for me, but may not be so good for those who may not be as mobile.
