“Would've Stayed Longer...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

Awesome resort that my family LOVED! They had everything on-site including their own private zoo with animals that the owner saved from being euthanized. The hot springs pools located around the grounds were amazing. There's even a slide for the kids to enjoy. There's tubing, horseback riding and more. It has a fabulous view of the volcano as well. There was no reason to leave the property for meals since the food was delicious. The nearby ziplining experience is one of a kind...highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We had a family style room with a loft. Plenty of space and everything was within walking distance.

Probably a 20 minute shuttle drive from the airstrip. The location is great - you really don't need to leave. You have a perfect view of the volcanoe - well when its not misted over. It rained a lot while we were there but that wasn't a problem as the hot springs are great for rainy weather. You can simply enjoy cocktails from the thermal pools. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished with awesome balconies to enjoy sunset downers or an evening meal (if you manage to get hold of room service). There is also loads to do if you add in the adventure portion of the resort where you can do the complimentary Wildlife Preserve - Tocans, Puma's, Croc's and more. Due to the rain the kayaking was cancelled on day 1 but we managed to fit it in on our last day - which was great fun. We might have done a few more excusion if it wasn't raining. We made use of the spa which was wonderful.
Our only negative was some of the FNB service. It probably took us an hour to get hold of room service and the service at breakfast varied depending on who was on duty and on our first day we couldn't find a conceirge. That being said bus driver to the adventure area was great - he pointed out birds and sloths on the way down. There were also other staff in the team that made up for the few that may need to look into alternate employment. In general Costa Rica seems to have a high service standard.
Breakfast were okay, but the sushi bar and fine dinning restaurants were excellent

Room Tip: Second floor units have great views

The hotel was as beautiful as the brochure. The staff was very attentive all day long! The day trips were full of excitement! I'd highly recommend this resort for a peaceful getaway. The huge spacious rooms were most enjoyable. The jacuzzi tub was a big hit for my teenage son.

All I can say is wow, what a view.
It is an incredible setting for a hotel. The service is wonderful. A top notch hotel in all respects, particularly if you are a family.
I only wish we could stay a little pager to enjoy all the activities at the Club Rio (water tubing, horseback riding, animals).
The springs are great and you can always find a quiet pool, at least when we visited in July.
The only down side is that you are required to walk quite a bit up and down stairs. This is great for me, but may not be so good for those who may not be as mobile.

This place was a nice weekend stop for my parents and I; the setting is really pretty unfortunately the days we stayed was foggy and we didnt get to see the Volcano. The springs are very nice, a little crowded but surrounded by beautiful scenary.

We travel a lot but very rarely leave reviews. This place was so amazing that we feel obligated to spread the word.
The staff in general are beyond friendly and courteous. They seemed to anticipate our needs in advance. This place just gets costumer service. Jason at the front desk went out of his way to accommodate us and made sure we had a great time.
The resort is spectacular in every way possible. Well kept grounds and pools. Great food and drinks...Club Rio has many amazing activities for adults and kids. Nicole at the activity desk was so helpful setting up our tours.
Simply put the resort deserves its 5 star rating. Highly recommended for couples families and friends.

We stayed at the Springs Resort and Spa for our Christmas holiday and had a wonderful time. This resort is absolutely amazing, so much detail and thought was put into this resort. The setting is breathtaking with the amazing views and tropical foliage all around the resort. Our rooms were gorgeous with views of Arenal volcano, we could literally lie in bed at night and watch the show, very surreal. The many springs are very relaxing after a hard day of hiking and site seeing. The facilities are so spread out, it feels at times you have the resort to yourself. Our only regret is we planned too many outside activities, and wish we had spent more time on the grounds. We are planning our trip for next year and can not wait to go back!
