“Fabulous Facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Springs Resort the third week of January 2014. The facilities were beautiful and well maintained. The views from the rooms were spectacular. We particularly liked the spacious balcony with two hammocks. The food was very good and the service was excellent throughout the resort. The weather was generally overcast with intermittent light rain but it did not stop us from enjoying our stay. We have previously stayed at the Tabacon Resort and Spa in Arenal and I would rate them slightly higher with regards to their actual hot springs. To me the pools and food were about the same at both resorts but The Springs Resort definitely has the edge with regard to the hotel rooms and facilities and Tabacon has nothing to compare with the Springs' Club Rio outdoor recreation area.

We just returned from a 9 day stay at the Springs Resort and Spa. This place is so incredibly amazing that we don't know if any other place will ever measure up to it! Even before we arrived, Johnny and Jocelyn helped us plan great activities for the duration of our trip. All of the tours were top notch and we had the time of our lives. Hairol gave us a great tour of the property and greeted us warmly as we left and returned from our tours. Every room at this hotel is beautiful with so many special touches. The amazing view of the Arenal volcano through our gigantic picture window was a great way to start each day. All of our meals were fantastic and the waitstaff were so attentive and friendly that they felt like family by the time we left. We tried a number of restaurants in town, but consistently felt that our meals at the resort were far superior. The breakfast buffet was extensive, and Renso in particular made us feel right at home. We had the great pleasure of meeting Lee Banks, the owner and creative genius who has developed this property. His attention to detail is so obvious throughout the hotel, it almost feels like you are in i a work of art! Every employee that we came in contact with was friendly, professional and so obviously proud of their country and their resort. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking and I very much enjoyed my treatment in their beautiful spa. Jay and Jamie, who oversee the property make every guest feel not only welcome, but special;. We can't wait to go back, and also are eager to check out their sister property.

Room Tip: I don't think you could go wrong with any room at this property. Second floor rooms may have a...

We just returned from a two night stay at the Springs Resort and Spa at Arenal and I can't say enough good things about how enjoyable our experience was! We were traveling with 3 adults and 3 children ages 7,14, 15. We only booked 1 night but after arriving and seeing how gorgeous the resort and our room (Family Suite) were we decided to stay another night. We really enjoyed all of the pools and hot springs throughout the property. The kids spent hours going down the monkey slide! The property is immaculate and has such a natural feel to it. We ate at all of the restaurants and everything was delicious. The staff is abundant and well trained. One of our favorite staff members was Renso, he was so attentive and pleasant during our meals. This resort is hands down one of the best places I've ever stayed and I would highly recommend staying there!

We split a 10-day vacation between The Springs and its sister facility, the Peace Lodge. Both were superb in their own way.
The Springs is a real luxury treat: bubbling mineral "ponds" situated under cascading waterfalls and nestled in forest-like preserves next too cooler small swimming pools are all over the premises; the food, despite what some reviewers have indicated, was quite good and an amazing variety; the Spa inside the Hotel is first-class and the workout room is more than adequate. Everything was impeccable. Having done the zip line and rapids in previous trips, we did the tour on the Suspension Bridges with a very knowledgeable guide and wandered the trails at their Rio Park. Only downer is getting there; after long flights, it is a three-hour drive but once you arrive, all that is forgotten.
The Peace Lodge, a 2-hour drive that brings you very close to San Jose and the airport, is just as superb in its own way. More rustic, with only 17 rooms but, as with The Springs, they are fabulous rooms: stone fireplace, jacuzzi in bathroom AND on the porch, best shower ever. Again, the food was quite good; two separate restaurants for breakfast and dinner and a delightful outdoor facility on the Trout Pond for lunch. The trails, especially those that run under and next to cascading waterfalls, are a delight.
But the best thing about both lodges was the help. Local people who love their land and environment and so eager to share with visitors. Gracious, kind, extremely professional staff from the restaurants to the check-in and conceirge help were the extraordinary.
We can't wait to return!

The Springs is a very beautiful property, the employees extremely nice and helpful. However in spite of all the niceness "The Springs" was not as advertised, the temperature of the water in the pools was as much as 20 degrees f, lower than posted. One pool was marked as 93 degreed f, it was no more than 75 degrees as it felt cold to the touch. I spoke with the desk about this, and they did apologize, however there was no attempt to make me happy as their guest. In the end I was sorry that I stayed at the springs, The Tabacon resort, where I have stayed previously is far superior in terms of Hot Springs.

We stayed at The Springs for 5 nights. Everything is first class at this place. The food is excellent, accommodations are outstanding (two bedroom, 2.5 bath, full kitchen, with golf cart at our disposal), and the staff is wonderful! Ransso, a waiter in the restaurant, was very friendly and attentive, as were all of the others. Johnny and Jocelyn, the concierges, were extremely helpful. Great gift shop and the woman who works there was terrific (I can't remember her name, but she worked there the evening of 1/25). My husband and I also brought along two of our kids (21 yr and 24 yr). They enjoyed the pool bar (given the bar tab, probably a little too much.) Randal, Stephen, Oscar and Arnaldo all provided excellent service. We enjoyed the activities at Club Rio. Nicole was very helpful there. All and all a wonderful place.

Room Tip: Request the Villa Calatea.

I have traveled all over the world and I have to say that the Springs Resort was the finest resort I have ever experienced. Every employees made you feel like family and treated everyone with great respect. The resort itself is beyond any five star resort I have seen. The accommodations were the finest. Luxury and privacy were incredible. The food was great and the fine dinning room was excellent. Every employee was passionate about their job.
There are many things to do on property to keep you busy. Club Rio is an excellent place to spend the day whether you are staying at the Springs or other area hotels. The horseback riding is very good at Club Rio where your Wranglers are great with the horses and the people. Many other activities are there as well. Tubing, Rafting, kayaking, Climbing, and wildlife tours. It is great for anyone. The concierge will also take care of any out side tours that are available. There are many. They do an excellent job.
We also stayed four days at the Peace Lodge and were equally impressed. Mr. Banks Passion for these two getaways is obvious everywhere you look. Don't miss this. I am going back.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with any room. They are fantastic
