“Just Gorgeous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

This hotel is stunning. We were in the 2 BR Oropendola room. Our terrace looked directly at Arenal volcano - amazing view to wake up to each day. The rooms are gorgeous, extremely clean (clorox wipes remained in the suitcase), spacious and beautifully appointed. We had a staircase that led from our room downstairs to our boys' room upstairs. Bathrooms were big and beautiful!

The truly amazing thing about this hotel is that, although it was completely booked (feb break) - you'd never know it. The only evidence we'd see of other people - were in the restaurants and around the various hot springs scattered throughout the property. But nothing was ever too crowded. There are only 47 rooms in the hotel.

The one small negative i have with the hotel is that it is up a crazy 10 minute long winding dirt road. It's odd because within the property - the roads are nicely paved - but on the way up (which i'm not 100% sure is on hotel grounds) it is a very rough, long road. After a long day out on our various adventures - coming back up this dirt road, made you not really want to go off campus for dinner. Just the thought of going back down that road was too much.

It's about a 20 minute ride into the nearest town (La Fortuna). We only wound up venturing into town for dinner one night (Don Rufino - really good meal). The other three nights - we ate at the hotel's various restaurants. Would have liked a little more variety. But what is very nice is that you can order from any and all of the restaurants' menus - no matter which one you are in.

You will not be disappointed by this stunningly beautiful hotel. The people that work there are great and extremely helpful. There's a reason this is considered the nicest hotel in Costa Rica.

Pura Vida!

This resort was absolutely beautiful and the staff is top-notch. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in. We stayed in room 101, which is on the bottom floor and has a great unobstructed view of the volcano. The room was a Vista Plus, which worked out great for our family of four. It allowed for the adults to have a king bed and a master bathroom and our two teenagers each had a twin bed and their own bathroom. If you like smoothies, make sure to try one of the many flavors offered at the resort. The smoothies and the hammocks on the patio were both highlights for our teens.

Room Tip: Our room on the bottom floor had an unobstructed view of the volcano. The only downside of the bott...

The springs blew us away. It had everything, and if they didn't have it, they were either in the midst of building it, or they would put you in touch with someone who does. After spending two weeks on the road, we were ready for some comfort, and the Springs was just what we needed. I think it would be an understatement in saying that the The Springs Is an ambitious project. The location is utterly breathtaking, the attention to detail in the buildings and landscaping is par none, excellent. Yes folks, the facilities are top notch, on level with any North American spa retreat with a five star rating. Wow,wow, wow.

The icing on the cake for the spring though, as it is with any successful business, is the respect the staff have for the customers, and for the work they do. It was extremely clear to us during our three days at the resort, that the staff were extremely committed to excellent customer and they were proud, very proud of their work. It was just so great to be in such a positive environment the staff AND in paradise on earth!! We will be back.

This resort was just wonderful. The rooms were large, comfortable, clean with a very unusual shower. We were in a rain forest and when it rains the water cascades down the back wall of the shower (which are lovely rocks) into a large container of plants and then into the floor of the shower. We had never seen this before. It was a long walk to the restaurant of the resort, but they provided golf cart service to pick you up if you wished. They had a lovely pool and also hot springs. The view from this resort is to the top of the volcano. At night you can see the lava if your lucky and the clouds drift away. They have a very large buffet for meals, which is well run.

Our stay at The Springs was after our second stay at The Peace Lodge, which we loved. We were amazed by the beauty of the Springs Hotel and the incredible activities offered. We could have spent many more days discovering and enjoying all of the hot springs and lovely pools on the property, and visiting the rescue animals. The river tubing was loads of fun. The rooms are large and comfortable with fantastic views of the Arenal Volcano. The hotel staff always had a smile and were ready to assist in any way. The owner, Lee Banks, answered all our questions about how he was able to build such a beautiful hotel in such a remote location. We loved meeting him and we look forward to returning to The Springs someday soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room on the 2nd floor of the Tucan Building and it had a terrific view of the volcano...

We went to the Springs for my birthday in January. It was the most fantastic trip ever. The accommodations were unbelievable. It was one of the pretties hotels we have ever stayed at. We met the owner of the property Lee. He was a real treat getting to know him. He made our day when he called the stable to arrange for us to go on a private horseback excursion with Nano. I have never met someone that was so nice and made sure we had a spectacular time. The entire staff at the resort was unbelevable they all went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect.
I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. There is so much to do you would never have to leave the resort. The grounds are gorgeous.

You will walk around scratching your head thinking, "how did they possibly build this place, HERE"

It's in the middle of nowhere, and it's gorgeous. The grounds are huge but there are relatively few rooms. The pools and "springs" are so good people come every day and pay just to use them. Wonderful in every way!

Expensive? Heck yes - but for the one time in your life you go to this place - go big and stay here!
