“Cheap but Good Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

Not the best food you'll ever have. But cheap and good. When we were there seemed like a lot of locals were also eating there. If you're traveling on a budget or don't want to spend an arm and a leg, Hormiga is a good place to eat.

“OK local hangout”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

We stopped to have our first meal in Hormiga, and throughout the stay at La Fortuna, everyone local talks about grabbing food there. Its a small joint, simple with very typical tico food. Very resealable priced, a meal runs about 4 -5 dollars. I would say if you want a true raw costa rican food experience, this soda is a good try in the area. Literally, every tico we talked to in the town likes eating there!

“Good cheap local food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

"Soda" in Costa Rica is sorta like the American "diner". Small, local, homemade like meals. This one was a little bit more commercialized but none the less it served up good, cheap filling Costa Rican casados for less than $5. Clean. Easy to find- next to Mega Super market. Menus in English but wait staff primarily Spanish speaking.

Recommended for a cheap meal.

ambiance, waitress was fierce, carved wood chairs were super cute along with all the Hormigas (Ants). Cute kitty and doggy entertained me. ;)

“Good Soda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

This place had some quick dishes with some good flavor. A good drink menu too with some interesting drink choices. Definitely worth a lunch if you're in the area.
