This hotel may look like a monstrosity to its neighbours but once inside it is actually quite comfortable and has good views. On rainy days (ie: most days) the hot pools offer a good place to warm up. The main pool is even swimmable unlike the one at Nayara. Also the rooms are brighter and generally functional except for a shortage of hooks to hang clothes on.
The meals at the restaurant were quite good and reasonably priced.
You won't fall in love with this place but overall we found it quite practical as a base from which to explore the area.

With a view up the slope of the dormant Arenal volcano, this hotel is a relaxing oasis where you can sit on your balcony listening to the water falls in the pool area and the birds singing in the trees. The pool area has several sections and grottoes, including a swim-up bar, that are fed with thermally heated water. The only disappointment was the hot tubs didn’t have working jets.

The hotel is clean and modern with an open-air dining area. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast and dinner we had at this location. On the top floor, there is a lounge with a nice view of the volcano. There are times when the top of the volcano is hidden by clouds. We got some good pictures shortly after 6 a.m. when the clouds lifted and we could see clear to the top. Bring your binoculars and watch the birds and iguanas in the trees.

The Hotel Royal Corin is about a $10 cab ride from the town of Fortuna where you can find shops and restaurants.

One word....BEAUTIFUL! We felt so pampered here! We went swimming in one of their many hot spring pools, enjoyed a view of the volcano from our room, ate exceptional food, and was well taken care of by staff. We stayed at six different hotels throughout Costa Rica, and this was hands-down the finest of them all!

The Royal Corin Hotel and Spa is definitely one of the most luxurious and amazing hotels I have ever stayed in. The suite rooms come with their own lounge, all round patio and jacuzzi bath for two with a TV. The hotel itself is spectacular and has a breathtaking view of the volcano. I especially enjoyed the variety of hot pools nestled around the pool area. It is only few
miles away from the Arenal Volcano National Park, the town of La Fortuna and the
many excursions. The highlight of our stay, was the unbelievably delicious meals prepared at the hotel restaurant. Incredibly tasty with interesting flavors and artistic presentations that rival any of the well-known restaurants.
Tip of the trip : you have to try the chocolate lava dessert - incredible!
