My wife and I upgraded to a master suite, which was fantastic. All of the hotel facilities were very good. Many prior comments refer to lousy service, but I felt that everyone was quite friendly. I didn't think much of the restaurant - we both felt that they were shooting for a five-star menu but only managed to pull off mediocre. Unfortunately the prices reflect a five-star restaurant for the area. We wound up eating in Fortuna every day after our first, and were much happier with that arrangement.

This is a very nice hotel with beautiful heated pools and spas. I loved the ability to swim at night and stay warm. The swim up pool bar was great. Staff were friendly and very tried their best to make things comfortable. I appreciated the free wifi. The restuarant was okay. Breakfast was good, but dinner was a bit overpriced and did not have as much variety as I would have wished. Would have been better if some of the lunch items could also be on the dinner menu.

I also wish that there had been a shuttle to the town.

However over all I would come back to this hotel.

Location was great, only a $7 cab to town. Rooms and grounds were very clean. Pools were wonderful. Service was very lacking. Not sure what all the other reviewers saw when rating service so highly, however EVERYONE we spoke with said same thing about not so good service. One other traveller made the following statement, "the service is reactive not proactive." I could not agree more. This was a consistent theme from bartenders to front desk to waiters. However, the one amazing stand out was the spa staff.
One night a bartender overcharged and then when I brought it up he "corrected" by overcharging another item. We paid bill and deducted difference from his tip. Was too tired to keep going through it.

The hotel was beautiful and the service was excellent. We stayed for our honeymoon for 3 nights and spent 2 full days relaxing by the pool and enjoying the view. We we not interested in doing any excursions just a relaxing time. (however there were many excursions offered if interested).This place was perfect! The pool and landscaping was beautiful. Our favorite part was the pina colada's...best we ever had! The restaurant food was very good and we would highly recommend this place for couples looking for a few days of relaxation!
