We did the full day canoe tour and it was awesome! Apparently this is not a popular option, so you basicaly end up having a private tour which was amazing and makes this trip quite a good value. On the way there we stopped along the way whenever we saw a great bird, making the drive there pleasant and very informative (approx two hours). We had a delicious breakfast at the restaurant on cano negro, and then canoed down the river. I hadn't canoed before, but it was great fun! It was pretty easy but just challenging enough to make it exciting. We saw great wildlife including many different types of birds, a ton of caimans, and monkeys (white-faced capuchins). Canoing is followed by a delicous lunch at the same restaurant, and then the drive back. Our guide was amazing.. so kind and knowledgeable and friendly and very accomodating. Our driver was also quite good since he was focused on the road and not on birds, which allowed us not to get killed as we stopped on the two-lane highways to peer up at birds! Very professional company, would highly recommend them.

I'm a travel agent and I love Costa Rica. I had taken a group of 10 women to Costa Rica, first stop Arenal, and we decided to do the Penas Blancas rafting trip on the spur of the moment. Our original plan was a trip to the Cano River but we did not want to spend hours in the car again and the close proximity of the river to La Fortuna appealed to us.

Were we ever glad! It was raining that day and the experience of the warm rain, the gently flowing river, the animals and the farm visit combined in a way that was truly memorable. Our guides were very funny, extremely well-informed about the animals and birds we saw, and very good at spotting wildlife on the riverbanks. We saw and heard lots of Howler Monkeys, crocodiles, snakes, lizards and many types of birds. Our stop at Don Pedro's farm for coffee and a snack was simply delightful. It was a truly charming way to see how some Costa Ricans really live. The Canoa Aventura employees were all very hospitable, professional and friendly.

It was a day trip in Cano negro, we visit a restaurant with lots of iguana. Then we went to a water canal to observe birds, caiman and monkeys. We say a variety of wildlife, the guide was good. We had our trip before entering the park of Cano Negro and that disapointed me, even if the guide said we saw probably more than we could have seen in the park.

This was a highlight of our trip to costa rica. The guides were full of energy, fun, informative, and great with our kids. The trip itself was amazing. Starts and finishes with traditional costa rican breakfast and lunch. Then a 2-3 hour paddle down a beautiful river packed with Cayman, Iguina's, and birds of all sorts. WE LOVED IT!!
