This lodge is perfect if you want to get away from the towns and cities. The location is gorgeous and the tours of the eco-farm were very interesting. The staff were incredibly helpful and cheerful.

If you want to see the volcano, hot springs or go zip-lining, they will help you set up tours (it is a 30 min taxi ride from La Fortuna), but we just relaxed at the farm the whole time on the hammocks. I highly recommend this place.

We found Finca Luna Nueva on trip advisor and we were thrilled with the place from day one but I highly recommend you do your research about this place so you know what you're getting into. This ecolodge is off the beaten path with nothing available as far as other food to eat except the meals the hotel serves. However, we had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed all of our meals. The main road to the hotel is bumpy and rough but well worth the trek out there.
We stayed in the family lodge and it was great! There were 2 bedrooms and a main living space with 2 more beds. We had a hot shower which we've found is less than common here. We absolutely LOVED our front porch where we sat watching the birds every morning and watched the sun come up. We ran into a lot of wildlife including the elusive toucan which I have been chasing my entire trip to Costa Rica. The resident sloth appeared during our breakfast one morning and I ran into an armadillo one afternoon.
The pool and hot tub are to die for and will not be soon forgotten. Staff was excellent and accommodating and were very helpful.
We went zip lining in Arenal which is about 35 minutes away and I am so glad we decided not to stay in La Fortuna which is a lack luster city that is very touristy.
I'm under the impression that the people who give this place poor reviews have not done their research about what they're getting themselves into. Be prepared to relax, do some hiking and see some excellent wild life while staying at a beautiful ecolodge that is well maintained!

This Eco Lodge was great, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The retreat is only about 10 minutes off the main road to La Fortuna (which was only 15-20 minutes up the road). The minimal approach was refreshing from the hustle and bustle the two of us come from on a regular basis... We would recommend going on the free farm tour. And make sure you get up to eat their delicious breakfast in the morning.

If you are passionate about nature, healthy life style, conservation, this place is the right choice for you.

Pros: very secluded, beautiful surroundings, nice pool, very nice fresh/healthy and delicious food - lots of fruits and vegetables, pretty nice spacious rooms, super friendly staff, excellent guides, beautiful/inspiring farm, lots of beautiful birds.

Cons: A bit far from town, about a 20 minute drive from La Fortuna area and you have to take a dirt road up to the property for 2.5km.
