“A Perfect Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

We were greeted by Jose and Maite, owners, and felt at home immediately. They were very knowledgeable about the area and gave out great tips & tricks and restaurant recommendations.

The lodging accommodations were perfect for us. My husband and I stayed in 5 Poas, while our daughter stayed next door in 4 Colibri. The views from our porch were breathtaking. Sitting out on the porch, drinking our morning coffee was relaxing and refreshing. The rooms were clean and airy with an abundance of space.

The pool area and grounds were kept up very nicely. The made-to-order breakfast was delicious ~ the fresh fruit was delightful. The Wi-Fi was available throughout the grounds and rooms. (daughter was very appreciative of this amenity)

The location of the hotel was perfect ... above the city of Grecia, away from the hustle and bustle. Very relaxing and quiet (as can be with all the dogs barking in the city/countryside). Close to many area attractions, making it possible to do day trips while still enjoying the amenities @ the hotel. A little slice of heaven.

Jose and Maite were great hosts and a lovely couple to talk and get to know.
Thanks for a great stay and memories of Grecia!

Room Tip: Definitely pay for a Poas ... the view and porch is worth the money!!

I recently spent my honeymoon in Costa Rica at this bed and breakfast. I stayed in the Poas 6 room that has the terrace with 2 rocking chairs. I cannot express enough how absolutely beautiful the view from the terrace is. A perfect view of the Poas volcano and overlooking the valley.

The cottage itself was a cozy 2 room + bathroom setup. The bedroom was warm and inviting and the kitchen/dining room gave you enough room to prepare meals and sit down and eat without feeling squished. The bathroom was rather impressive with the open shower area.

The owners, Maite and Jose are an absolute delight and are very eager to please and quite entertaining. They even invited to take us to town and show us around the farmers market! On other days they provided us with every bit of information we would need for getting around the town on our own. When we went on the tour of the Toros waterfall, Maite was kind enough to show us around and friendly connections with the surrounding businesses gave us an experience we wouldn't have gotten at a larger hotel.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and my wife "LOVED IT!" She even said "It felt like a home away from home." I disagree, this was better.

Oh, and if you want to head into town, the bus stop is right outside their driveway. It really is the better way to go to town instead of driving.

Tell them Utah sent you!

Hello “Utah”!! hahaha!

How are you doing? What about your leg pain? Please, tell me that two days after the Toro Waterfall you couldn’t walk… I couldn’t! hehehe!

Your idea about watching the stars with a blanket in the swimming pool area has been copied several times, of course we tell everybody that Nathan and Trichia are the owners of the copyright :)

We really enjoyed your time with us, thank you very much for visiting Mango Valley.

Take care guys! And Happy New Year!

We absolutely loved our entire trip to Costa Rica but found Grecia to be bit too busy, busy for our tired psyches. However, as we drove out of town toward Hotel Mango Valley we felt the stress falling away and when we arrived we were warmly greeted by our gracious hosts, a charming young couple from Madrid. The cabins were lovely, the view gorgeous, and even the drive through the coffee farm to get there was a treat. The Mango occupies a lush hillside overlooking beautiful coffee farms and luxuriously green hills all around. The breakfasts were excellent and the owners had terrific advice about where to go for dinner without going back into town. All in all very pleasurable.

Room Tip: The cabin on the corner of the bluff overlooking the coffee farms has a magnificent view and catches...

You would need a video to showcase their beautiful BnB. The very first thing we loved about Mango Valley was the close proximity of parking and unloading luggage into our spacious and comfortable room. Jose was there to meet us when we pulled in the property. Mango Valley was picture perfect and it is located next to a beautiful coffee plantation.
Maite, Jose's better half, is warm, gracious and has a great sense of humor! They are Ex Pats from Spain and contribute to the Costa Rican culture with their "tico" like friendliness. They have an excellent breakfast and will give personal tours of the area.

Awesome place to stay if you are visiting the area between San Jose and the Poas Volcano! The setting is absolutely something out of a Disney movie. Vistas are simply incredible. The owners are so friendly and accommodating. They even loaned us a sweater since my partner had forgotten hers. Rooms are simple but very nice, clean, and cozy including kitchenettes and free wi-fi. There are tours available through them. We went to an amazing, secluded waterfall. After a short, beautiful walk through jungle, you have to navigate about 400 steps to get to the bottom of the waterfall but it is well worth the trip. The drive itself to get there has fabulous, cloud forest scenery but not for you if you get nervous on narrow, windy roads close to a cliff. Full breakfast that is very well done. Perfect place for small workshops if you want to do sessions outdoors in a magical setting.

Room Tip: The three more expensive cabins have a fabulous view and one is equipped with a jacuzzi.

The owners were very welcoming as we pulled into the resort . Tired from trip to Costa Rica, they ordered a delicious dinner for us and had a nice bottle of wine! Jose is a great cook as the breakfast is wonderful! Great way to start our adventure and highly recommend

Stayed here with my husband and friends for 2 nights at the end of our trip. The rooms are individual bungalows that are spotlessly clean, well maintained and comfortable. The 3 end units each have a private patio with view of the coffee plantation and valley. Worth the additional cost if they are available.

Our bungalow had a main kitchenette/dining area, a good size tiled bath and separate bedroom with queen size bed. The floors are tile, and the bath has a walk-in shower with good water pressure and hot water. The kitchenette is thoughtfully equipped with microwave, fridge and the needed tools to prepare a simple meal.

As others have stated, the real highlight of this hotel are hosts Jose and Maite. They are delightful and truly make you feel at home. The location of the hotel is in a residential area at the top of a ridge so a bit tough to find. However, follow the directions on the website and you'll have no problem. The setting allows you to see and "feel" community life. If you do not feel like driving down the hill into Grecia, Maite and Jose have put together menus from several local restaurants for delivery. After a long day sightseeing, it is worth the small delivery fee to enjoy a meal in, sit on your deck with a glass of wine, or enjoy visiting with your hosts in the comfortable glassed-in communal room. The perfect relaxing evening. Enjoy!

Room Tip: The Poas rooms with the balconies are worth the extra cost.
