“Walking distance from the airport and still not far from the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

This place is a good choice for either a business travel or leisure. It is located near the airport; however it´ll take additional time to get to the downtown. Consider the heavy traffic in the rush hours, when making appointments, in the city.
The rooms are wonderful. The Restaurant lacks of privacy, too close from the entrance for those who look for a separate environment. But still, there are good options and enough variety in the menu.

Room Tip: Pick any. Try the upper levels.

After a busy day in the jungle riding atvs and zip lining this was the perfect place to lay my head as we traveled through Costa Rica! Clean bedding room and bathroom and fancy looking without the fancy money. All I could say if they offered free breakfast they would take Hampton inn an holiday inn off the map (exaggerating but true)

The Courtyard was perfectly located near the airport. We stayed here when we got into SJO at 10:00pm and 7 days later when we flew out of SJO at 6:15am. The shuttle was free and very convenient. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff was outstanding!

Our flight home to Los Angeles departed around 6:30 am so we needed to stay near the airport the night before. The hotel has everything you'd expect from a Courtyard Marriott but they went above and beyond for us. Although we were not staying at the hotel until the last night of our trip, I contacted the manager, Marco, to see if it would be ok if we could use their airport shuttle the day we arrived because we arranged for transportation via Interbus to La Fortuna/Arenal at 8:45 am but our flight landed at 5:30 am. Marco and his wonderful staff arranged for their shuttle bus to have a sign with my name so I could easily spot them at SJO (We wound up landing early and someone at the airport called the hotel and the sent the shuttle right over.). When we arrived at the hotel we had breakfast and then relaxed in the TV lounge until Interbus arrived. At the end of our trip, we returned, had dinner and spent our last night in a comfortable, well appointed room. We were able to pay the exit tax at the front desk when we checked in to save time in the morning. We took the shuttle back to SJO. We didn't go but there is a WalMart right next store if you need to stock up.

Muchas Gracias Marco, Anaysa, Karen and Diego (I think I got those names right!)!

Stayed here for a night after a late afternoon flight into San Jose. Hotel provides free shuttle to/from airport every 30 minutes. Watch out for the driver holding up the free shuttle sign right when you exit the arrivals. And be sure the driver takes you to the Courtyard in Alajuela because there is another Courtyard in San Jose. Room is clean and modern. Breakfast is served from 4 to 10am. Walmart is a short 5 min walk from the hotel for those who need to pick up some necessities or water and snacks for the road. We bought a pineapple from there and our waiter at the restaurant was kind bought to cut it for us. Free wifi in the room and common areas. Five thumbs up!

When I travel internationally, my preference is to stay at local, boutique hotels. However, due to an extremely early flight out of San Jose, and knowing Costa Rica’s notoriously gridlocked traffic, I wanted to stay close to the airport on the eve of my departure. You can’t get much closer to the airport than the Marriott Courtyard! It’s only about a mile from the terminal. It’s a brand-new property and is absolutely beautiful. The design is very sleek and modern (ironically, not so much on the outside) and, in keeping with Costa Rica’s commitment to the environment, it’s a LEED Certified Silver hotel. In addition, the staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating. They were very friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and transportation back and forth to the restaurant. I highly recommend the Airport Marriott Courtyard for a wonderful stay on your arrival or departure to Costa Rica.

Stayed here for one night partway through our trip, as well as the night before departure. The hotel is a welcome touch of sophistication. Spacious, comfortable room, nice warm shower, free internet, free and secure parking. Washer and dryer available for guests (beats using your hotel room sink). Didn't use pool or exercise room but those were present, too. Mini-fridge and coffeemaker in room provide added touch of comfort.

Breakfast is not included in the rate ... $14 price seems a bit steep, and we did not try it. Got a great rate on the room with Marriott Rewards membership. Staff were friendly and helpful. Super-close to SJO with free shuttle service. A Walmart next door (I know, ugh!) provided a great spot to pick up coffee to fill the remaining empty spots in our luggage.
