“Family vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Our family took our first trip to Costa Rica this November (2014). There were nine of us, and we used the 2 family suites and a triple room. All the rooms were clean and neat; the family suites are spacious. My 79 and 81 year old parents had no difficulty navigating the hotel grounds. The owners were helpful before we arrived with room selection and tour selection. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for. Breakfast was very nice; we ate dinner at the hotel (good food) and at several nearby restaurants during our stay. We had an early tour one morning and the staff arranged a "to go" breakfast for us. They also arranged transportation to and from the airport.

Great place for your first or last night in Costa Rica. Nice landscaped grounds. Our room was nicely decorated, inside and out. Friendly service. Secure parking. We walked a couple blocks to find dinner and truly enjoyed ourselves. The pool is large, although a bit cool, like many pools in Costa Rica. We were leaving too early for breakfast, but they supplied us with a little package of bananas, banana bread, and fruit juice, which was a nice touch.

My wife and I spent one night at this hotel before our flight back to the US. The hotel grounds are nice and well cared for. We were in a premium room and the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The AC unit took a while to cool the room but once it cooled down we slept well.

We did not have a car with us so we had planned to eat at the restaurant on-site. We were disappointed as we were told that the hotel staff was on leave that day and we could not order from the menu. They still arrange for a vegetarian Casado for us which wasn't bad. We would have loved to try some other options from the menu though.

We had to leave the hotel at 5 am to catch an early flight and the front desk was able to arrange a shared cab ride for us with some other guests to the airport. The airport is only a 15 minute drive. They also arranged for a to-go breakfast packet for us to take with us with a fruit cake, banana and some other things which was a nice touch and we were not expecting that.

This is a nice hotel to stay if you want to stay close to the airport and also have your own cottage style room with a lush Costa Rican atmosphere surrounding you. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The premium rooms are not a lot more and come with an AC unit which can be useful on those hot/humid...

We stayed there two nights at the end of August 2014 and we really enjoyed it. There's a very warm and familiar atmosphere present. The staff was very nice, the rooms clean and well maintained. A small and homemade breakfast buffet and the breakfast terrasse outside invited us to stay longer. it was a very relaxed stay with a beautiful garden and a small pool for the evening hours. With a rental car, it is a good starting point for visits of Doka coffee estate and Poas volcano. Also the Alajuela weekend market is not far away.
We would definitely stay here again next time!

This is a beautifully landscaped and nice, clean hotel close to the airport in San Jose. I believe the cab ride was $15. They have a nice pool and a restaurant serving breakfast which is included and dinner if you desire. The beds were very comfortable and the water was hot. We enjoyed spending 2 nights here even though we were not planning to stay in the area.

Thank you for your review and apologies for taking some time to respond! We have been renovating the garden to make it even better. We are glad that you enjoyed our Restaurant offerings as well. For the new year, we will be expanding the restaurant services, both for breakfast and for supper. More dishes will be added to the menu and for breakfast, we will be completely remodeling the service and presentation in reflection of guest desires and then needs of our growing business!
Having a comfortable night's sleep is extremely important to us so thank you for letting us know that our bedding and room services were comfortable and correct.
Thank you again for taking the time to review La Rosa!

The hotel is a wonderful place to start and end a vacation in Costa Rica. The staff is very knowledgeable to CR info, friendly and accommodating. The grounds are impeccably kept and the pool is perfect. The onsite restaurant serves a good dinner for a fair price and the "included" breakfast is hearty. The only complaint I could come up with is the coffee was a bit weak... especially the early morning coffee at the rancho before breakfast.... may have just been that days coffee.

Room Tip: Rooms 14 & 15 are the best rooms at the hotel, away from the pool, large and comfortable and at...

We appreciate your review and are happy to note that you enjoyed our gardens and restaurant! As you live in Dominical, do feel free to come visit whenever you wish! We are actually redoing our gardens - giving them a major upgrade and pruning too! We are aiming to achieve a private jungle sanctuary mentality within the centre of the property where guests can relax and see only nature around them.
We have taken your coffee indication to heart. Probably the coffee was, as you note weak that day as it is not normally meant to be. We are now regulating the amount per pot instead of leaving it up to the morning staff to determine. However we have also implemented a second option. You can now get lattes, cappuccinos, expressos, americanos etc as well from the kitchen. There is a minimal cost for these however we feel it is a great option for people who want very strong or specialized forms of coffee to drink. We understand that not all guests like the local "cafe con leche!".
Thank you for the room tip regarding our newest cabins. We are actually expanding the hotel yet again to include three more virtually identical cabins. Once completed, these will be our Superior Triple and Quad person rooms.
Thank you again for your comments. We appreciate your time to write in and comment!

Excellent all-around, staff communicates very well, local food within walking distance (not to mention the food on site is excellent as well), prices reasonable, and within 15 minutes of the airport. When traveling next time, I will try to spend at least 2 nights here as the pool is relaxing, the grounds very pretty and a relaxing beginning/end to adventure in CR.
