“Nice family business super close to San Jose Airport, Costa Rica!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

We only spent one night in San Jose on our way to Lima. After landing at the airport we realised we had lost one luggage on route to Costa Rice! With not a lot of time to decide on a hotel, we booked Hotel Aeropuerto due to its proximity to San Jose airport. It was fantastic considering our circumstances! We were provided a free transfer by taxi to and from the hotel, free calls from the phone in our room to anywhere in the world (mostly used to deal with Iberia Airlines in spain!!!), free wifi connection and cable TV.

We ordered room service from the little restaurant connected to the hotel which was nice. The menu is mostly western but we did manage to try a local favourite! Our breakfast the next morning was included which is great as there is not a lot around in close reach of the hotel.

The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Definitely felt safe here. The hotel have 24hr security and the front office has a staff member on duty all throughout the night. If we had more time we would have had a dip in the pool! The grounds are very well kept and quiet. The staff here at the hotel will go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. We took their advice and spent a few hours exploring Alajuela before our flight in the afternoon. Next time we wont miss the Volcano 45 minutes from the hotel!

Thanks for a great stay! See you again soon!

The grounds are secure, safe, and very pretty for being so close to the airport. The rooms are older (it's not a new hotel), but they are clean and the beds were comfortable. The young woman at the reception was too "stiff" compared to the staff at other hotels in CR. But she was efficient. The food was decent but way overpriced. Watch out! Get clarification on prices BEFORE you order. My party of four had "snacks" one night that cost us about $100. I can't imagine what the bill would be if we had ordered a meal. I'm glad the breakfast was included or I would have eaten elsewhere. It's a good hotel for one night before or after a flight, and the airport shuttle is free, but I wouldn't stay any longer.

I've stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and I found the entire place clean, well kept and the staff was more than friendly. Transportation is covered to and from the airport to the hotel and the front desk is occupied 24 hours a day. The rooms were also very spacious.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here & once again we felt very comfortable. The rooms are not anything special but are comfortable. What we like the most are the lovely grounds & the feeling that we are still in CR although so close to the airport. The staff is very friendly & helpful. The food at the restaurant is very good & beer & wine plentiful. While I am sure that the rooms at the American chains close by are probably more modern, I would far prefer to extend my Costa Rican experience an extra evening.

I stayed here on the way home from CR. Nice, nice people and a very secure property. Breakfast was great if you like a traditional breakfast. The staff was very friendly and very helpful.
There was a little traffic during my free ride to the airport and the driver simply took another route.

We chose this hotel as we needed a car park for our hired car and most of the hotels in the town itself couldn't offer that. Still we were very happy with the hotel, room was very big and clean with 2 double beds, TV and air con. A very nice place to relax before flying back home. They also have a swimming pool and a restaurant serving tasty, big meals at decent prices. Front desk and restaurant staff were very pleasant. We paid $76.00 per room per night inc breakfast and free airport shuttle. There isn't anything to do around the hotel so you would need a car to get anywhere.

This place is not swanky or shiny new, but we are so glad we chose it versus one of the chains near the airport. Despite its proximity to the airport and a major road, it's completely quiet. Because of the gardens, you really feel like you're in a secluded jungle spot. It's very easy to get to - just hop in any of the official orange taxis; the hotel will pay the driver upon your arrival. Then the hotel has their own shuttle (in our case, a very nice SUV) that will take you back to the hotel whenever you need to go. The front desk staff were very friendly (especially the guy that was there in the evening) and helpful regarding what we'd encounter at the airport (for instance, cluing us in that if you pay the required exit tax with a credit card that it's put through as a cash advance).

We had a very good experience at the restaurant. Breakfast buffet, though not huge, was really good and very filling. The eggs were fantastic, as was the pinto gallo. We had a great waiter both times we went to the restaurant for dinner. The food was very good and they even brought us a few extras "on the house."

We found it was a great place to stay with a toddler. We had quite a bit of time to kill on both ends of our trip and our little guy had a great time roaming around the grounds, looking at banana and mango trees, looking for animals and birds, and playing with the foosball machines.

The only real drawback we saw is that the walls are a bit thin, so we did get some noise. But the beds were very comfy. Sheets and duvets were surprisingly nice.
