“Great alternative to chain hotels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

This place is not swanky or shiny new, but we are so glad we chose it versus one of the chains near the airport. Despite its proximity to the airport and a major road, it's completely quiet. Because of the gardens, you really feel like you're in a secluded jungle spot. It's very easy to get to - just hop in any of the official orange taxis; the hotel will pay the driver upon your arrival. Then the hotel has their own shuttle (in our case, a very nice SUV) that will take you back to the hotel whenever you need to go. The front desk staff were very friendly (especially the guy that was there in the evening) and helpful regarding what we'd encounter at the airport (for instance, cluing us in that if you pay the required exit tax with a credit card that it's put through as a cash advance).

We had a very good experience at the restaurant. Breakfast buffet, though not huge, was really good and very filling. The eggs were fantastic, as was the pinto gallo. We had a great waiter both times we went to the restaurant for dinner. The food was very good and they even brought us a few extras "on the house."

We found it was a great place to stay with a toddler. We had quite a bit of time to kill on both ends of our trip and our little guy had a great time roaming around the grounds, looking at banana and mango trees, looking for animals and birds, and playing with the foosball machines.

The only real drawback we saw is that the walls are a bit thin, so we did get some noise. But the beds were very comfy. Sheets and duvets were surprisingly nice.

We had read good reviews of this hotel and made a last minute decision to book it before an early flight out. Big Mistake. We arrived and our room smelled awful, furniture was really old, and the sheets were obviously poor quality. The bathroom was not clean and the shower left a lot to be desired.

The free taxi to the airport was definitely a nice perk, but it seems most hotels in the area cover this. The restaurant had a nice dinner, but it is your only option as there are no other restaurants nearby.

Would have been worth paying $20 more for a better hotel to have a cleaner room.

I stayed here for a night. Its a 10 min drive from SJO- the hotel takes care of taxi expenses which is great! The rooms are big!! Can easily sleep 4 if need be. The property is cute with a lot of greenery. The breakfast was good too with eggs and some meat. The only downside was the mosquitoes in the room- we just lowered the AC temperature to get rid of them.

We are a family of five and we stayed at hotel aeropuerto for our first and last night in costa rica. We didn't expect too much of the place given that it was just an easy place near the airport, but we were surprised at how pretty and clean the place was. There was a great shaded pool and a fuseball table too. The food was great and the staff were very helpful in finding transportation to our next destination. It was a wonderful place to stay for our first and last nights.

Lovely garden, very clean and spacious rooms, friendly and helpful staff, all speak decent English (which you can't take for granted in Costa Rica). Breakfast is included and it is pretty decent - eggs, rice and beans, cereal, coffee, toasts and jam, tasty fruits (bananas, pineapples, watermelons, etc). WI FI in the room worked fine.
The hotel will pay for your ride to and from the airport or nearest bus station on your first and last day at the hotel (which saves you about $8 each way). Cab drivers all know the drill, they will walk to the hotel lobby and collect their pay.
Tip: We didn't have a car, and there is no bus stop in the walking distance from the hotel, so we had to take a cab to the airport and from there catch a bus to San Jose. Ask the hotel staff - they can arrange a free ride for you with someone who is going to the airport.

This was our second stay here and it was perfect both times. Rooms are clean, quiet, and comfortable and the motel was excellent at giving us a wake-up call and having our free shuttle ready to go to the airport on time. The highlight is certainly the adjoining steak house restaurant that serves very tasty traditional Costa Rican food and steak for two for under $20(American). This was the best dinner of our entire 12-day stay! We regretted that our early flight the next day forced us to miss the free breakfast. We definitely plan to return to Costa Rica, and will also plan our first and/or last night here next time too.

We stayed here two nights prior to leaving Costa Rica after a 4week stay in this beautiful country. The hotel is very convenient to the airport but as there is not much else around here I would recommend it as a one night stay. Efficient, friendly service at check-in. The hotel itself is very comfortable with amenities not always found in hotels throughout Costa Rica eg bath tub, hot water, flat screen tv, coffee maker. The restaurant does not open until 3pm (other than breakfast) where service is very good but the food is mediocre. Owner drove us to the airport at 5 am, very much appreciated.
