“I found paradise on Earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013 via mobile

Awesome place! The rooms are gorgeous and they have lots of space. We had a terrace with a beautiful view of the city and the forrest. They don't have a tv in the rooms, but that's fine by me. The wi-fi in the rooms is terrible, but that's the only opportunity area I found. The spa is great, lots of good treatments and the rooms are perfect. They have good food too! There are trails that lead to waterfalls, beautiful gardens, an orchid house .. Lots of things you can do. The pool and jacuzzi areas are beautiful too. I was impressed by this place and the good service they provide. I fully recomend it!

The hotel is beautiful, full of color and nice art work. Has a great location, only minutes away from the airport. Nice views of Alajuela Dowtown and lots of activities to do in the surrounding areas. Great room distribution and nice relaxing pool areas. Service was average but nothing extraordinary as I did noticed that they are not used to have locals booking a room, staff was friendly but not corteous mor professional when speaking to the point it looked that they care more for guests who come from abroad than costarrican guests who also admire the property and potential returning guests. Staff was the downer for us as we never received a professional treatment from front desk guy or restaurant waiter. More customer care training is recommended. Aside from this, great property, nice location, average food, colorful spacious rooms. Most likely will return.

Dear JRMTraveler21, Thank you for taking your time to write this review. We are glad you enjoyed Xandari, but sorry to hear we did not fulfill your service expectations. The Xandari atmosphere is casual and friendly and regret that was perceived as a lack of professionalism; we will work on it. Both local and foreign guests are equally important to us. We hope to have an opportunity to host you in the future.

This resort was one of the highlights of places where we stayed in Costa Rica. All personel was very helpfull in all aspects.
The rooms were very spacious, no noise from neighbours, only sounds of animals. We slept very well, the beds were really great. Breakfast was also decilcious.
It was a nice way to end our Costa Rican vacation.

Nestled above the San Jose, it is easy to get to from the airport. This is more of a quite couple's place, but our kids had a great time during our 1-night stay. The resort has a well maintained private trail system with fun waterfalls and views. The landscaping on the grounds was truly amazing. We stayed at some of the best resorts in Costa Rica on this trip, and found Xandari's restaurant to be the best. Massages at the spa are a must do.

If you have to catch a flight at the San Jose SJO Airport, you cannot find a better place to stay than the Xandari Resort & Spa. It is located in a very quiet and peaceful hill in Alajuela, overlooking the Central Valley only 15 minutes away from the airport. Xandari has 24 villas and beautiful gardens that are designed to make you feel like you are in a restful tropical paradise. The villas are very spacious and help you take in the tranquility of the gorgeous well-designed gardens around you. There is a small waterfall that you can walk to through a mini tropical forest without being pestered by insects. (We brought lots of insect repellants with us but never had to use them). The staff is very professional, courteous and helpful, particularly, Jose, who helped us at the front desk with many things. The restaurants cooks very well and waiters are very attentive and friendly.

This is a place where the owners have taken a lot of trouble to make you feel like you are special guests and want you to appreciate the charm and beauty of Costa Rica.

Room Tip: Get one with a view of the Central Valley. A tip on finding the hotel: if you are driving, use the...

I've been going to Xandari regularly (at least twice a year) on my travels throughout Costa Rica - I begin and end there. It's a wonderful resort that has become a second home to me with the amazing staff - Jose, Christian, Diana, Marcela, Lucy, Abner, and the list goes on.... They are extremely warm, genuine hosts. The property is also amazing in and of itself - beautifully maintained (and challenging) trails, the views, the pools, and privacy. A must experience...

Xandari Resort and Spa is located on a coffee plantation and overlooks the valley and San Jose. it is an idyllic setting with walking paths and waterfalls, bamboo forests and it feels very remote despite being convenient to the international airport. Each room is unique and the orientation of the rooms makes each feel very private. The service was simply outstanding and exceeded every expectation. I highly recommend this as a first or first and last night for anyone taking a trip to Costa Rica.
