We chose OI as a non-chain hotel for a night at each end of a vacation in CR, and were drawn by good reviews and what appeared to be expansive and pleasant grounds. We were picked up at SJO and driven to the Inn. ($15). The Inn is situated on the edge of town which is really a suburb/exerb of San Jose, and there are sugar cane fields on one side and a pastoral scene down in the valley.
The road on the sugar cane side is a wee bit noisy, but not excessive. The rooms (same both times) was large and clean, and had a fan and AC.
We stayed in the block up the hill a short distance from the office. You can drive or walk. The view is very attractive, overlooking a large sloping lawn with fruit trees, and across to farmland.
The central office adjoins a dining/bar area and other accomodation.
The food was reasonably priced and tasty, both for dinner and breakfast, and offered overlooking a delightful pool.
Our departure was almost marred as we had booked a return drive to SJO, but the driver didn't show and disaster was averted by the quick action by the kitchen and security staff calling a taxi for us.
