“Fantastic stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2011

Hosts were so friendly and helpful. Large and comfortable room. Breakfast very good and served in our room. Had coffee maker, microwave in rooms. Rented a GPS from the hosts. They helped us make calls so they could talk in Spanish for us. Would definitely stay again

We traveled with another couple to Costa Rica. We were greeted at the airport and taken to Melrost. The following morning they accommodated us by taking us to both the local grocery store and bank. When our rental car did not show up they took at least 30 minutes of their time to help us. We even rented a GPS from them (at a rate cheaper than from the rental car company). The owners were so gracious and what a nice welcome to San Jose. The rooms were very nice and very clean. The breakfast served in our room was a special bonus. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast. You will not be disappointed.

we happen to stumble upon this place when we were stuck at the airport due to a rental car mishap we needed a place cheap and close to airport! we got both the shuttle picked us up within 20 mins of us calling. We stated we were starving after traveling for almost 10 hours so he brought us to an amazing steakhouse for dinner and then picked us back up when we were finished eating all free of charge! in the morning the breakfast was at our balcony promtly when we asked for it fresh fruit eggs and toast! the coffee was by far the best coffee we had the entire time we were in costa rica, come to find out at a later stay that the reason being is they have coffee plants and roast and grind their own coffee in the b&b. the owners were super nice and very helpful. i would 110% stay there next time i am in costa and would recommend anyone do the same

The staff is very friendly and provide a wonderful service for their guests. The room was very clean and comfortable, and a delicious breakfast was served in the morning. Their wifi internet was fast and had great signal strength which was superb compared to other hotels I've stayed in.

The hotel van met us at the airport even though our plane arrived 4 hours late (midnight instead of 7pm) due to weather conditions. Transportation from the airport was quick and comfortable.

The only inconvenience was that our bathroom was not handicap accessible, and the shower floor tiles were slippery.

This is a great place to stay if you are just getting into Costa Rica, or will be departing to the airport the following day. If you need currency exchanged, or need to do some quick shopping, there is a mall a short distance from the hotel which is very convenient.

Thanks for the great stay!

Aaron and Marie

For the traveler who wants value and to meet some wonderful Ticos, this is a great opportunity! Katia and Rolando are terrific and warm people who will do all they can to make sure you feel safe, cared for and on time for your flight! I simply relax when I'm with them..... and I stay there on all my trips to and from the states. Welcome to Costa Rican hospitality. Plus - they email you back quickly! Pura Vida!

It was the first place and last place we stayed on our own during this trip. We were there a total of three times and stayed a total of 4 nights. They are just great about picking you up at the airport and taking you to the airport, even when you have to leave at 4:00 am. They will take you anyplace you want to go in San Jose for a reasonable price. On our second stay there Avianca lost our bag and they patiently waited for an hour while we finally got the claim made with Avianca and then got the bag from Avianca when it finally showed up. They stored our extra bag for our trip to Bocas Del Toro. They answered our e-mails promptly. They can all speak good English as well as Spanish of course and Rolando can speak Portuguese. The office is available for calls or help from early to late. They also got a significant amount of Chile money changed to Costa Rica money as we could not change the Chile money at the Santiago Airport due to that cambio being closed due to the temporary nature of the airport from the earthquake. They put a lot of time and effort to get this done as it is not an easy thing to get done. I found in the USA
if you have foreign money it is very hard to get changed and it you do the fee is about 20% so they really helped us out here. They are fun to visit with, have some huge rooms with some kitchen stuff and a great breakfast. The are very close to the airport but we found it not to be that noisy and slept well. You can check it out at www.melrost.com and e-mail them at info@melrost.com. There was one review about not being there to give a ride to the airport. I am sure there was some sort of mis communication as they were available right on time the 5 times we asked for a pick up or trip to the airport. They also have free Wi-Fi with good speed. Anyway for convenience, price and a real decent place
and great staff we will always stay here when we come to San Jose.

My flight was at 7AM they told me not to worry a shuttle would pick me up at 5AM to the airport with a little breakfast to go they say the airport was at about 3 minute. Sound great. I was on the street with my luggage at 5AM no shuttle show up and nobody at the desk to help me. I wait for 15 minute and started to worry .... In the dark (5h15 AM)with all my luggage I walk for 15 minute to find somedoby (really kind) to drive me to the airport. ....
