“Total peace and relaxation, but the FOOD! Oh, the food!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2011

I stayed here with my husband and toddler for 3 days, along with 8 other relatives for a family reunion of sorts. Ray and Doris are first class hosts and provided a truly enchanting weekend for all of us. From the moment we walked in the door late on a Thursday night, we were immediately impressed. A customized folder awaited us with all the information we could need, as well as menus for us to choose what we wanted to order during our stay. We stayed in the Dillingham suite, which was perfect for our little trio. The suite is laid out so that the master bedroom and little living room are separated by a short hallway. They had a Pack 'n Play already set up for us, complete with blankets, in the living room portion of the suite. I can't say enough how wonderful it was to have that little bit of separation from our daughter, where she was right at hand but we could still have a light on in our room or the tv on low without disturbing her. Speaking of the tv, when we first walked into the room it was lovely to be greeted by classical music playing softly on the tv and lamps turned on in the room. Such a warm welcome for us weary travelers!
Blue Spring Manor is beautiful, through and through. As we had so many family members staying there at once, I was able to see many of the other rooms. They're all different from each other but very nice. The landscape is so beautiful and the grounds are immaculately kept. It was nice to stroll with our family around the property, which is huge! My daughter was especially interested in the large koi pond out back and the putting green in the front yard. My favorite part of the house was the back porch and pool area. It's so pretty and peaceful out there. Even when it got hot, the fans on the porch kept it comfortable. I spent A LOT of time relaxing on the porch swing.
As wonderful as our stay at Blue Spring Manor was, the #1 highlight for me was definitely the food. Doris is a PHENOMENAL cook. Every single meal was absolutely incredible... almost too good to describe. She goes out of her way to make every dish fancy and gourmet. I will warn you, though: DO NOT eat here and expect to stick to your diet! Just check your waistline at the door and you'll be fine. The food was so good that even my less-than-2 year old cleaned her plate at nearly every meal.
I would recommend staying at Blue Spring Manor in a heart beat. Don't skip out on the food!! I honestly think that anyone who stays here and chooses not to order any food is seriously missing out on half the experience. Amazing. That pretty much sums it up.

We chose Blue Spring Manor for the peace and quiet location. It is hard to find a place that you can truely relax, but we found it here! Doris is a wonderful host and the home is beautiful. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The grounds are gourgous and well maintained. A picture perfect setting in which to do absolutely nothing! While here...please...please... treat yourself to a massage. Sherry did a great job and you will not regret it!
Thanks Doris and team for creating a wonderful escape!

Stayed at the Blue Spring Manor in Vincent , AL for a weekend. We were coming to watch our grandson play in a lacrosse tournament. Decided that most hotels in the area would be full of LAX players and decided that a B&B would be quieter.
Ray and Doris Harris are the owners and they have a very pleasant home to share. Lovely commom rooms with a fireplace with a resident 50 year old parrot named Renee, a large front porch with tables and a swing. Out back is a heated pool and hot tub. Out on an enclosed porch there is a snack area set up with lemonade, their own Blue Spring bottled water, ice, nuts & candy. Upstairs there is a mini frig with pop and a microwave and popcorn for guests to use. There are 8 different bedrooms, each with a private bath. They range from $125 to $220 per night and include a very elegant breakfast.
Breafast is served in the Red Rooster Dining Hall with 3 large tables. One morning we had coffee, juice, fresh strawberry and blueberry parfait topped with granola, fresh cream and an edible flower, then followed by a lovely spinach quiche with a side slice of ham, grilled tomatoes and home fries with parmesan cheese. On the second morning we had coffee, juice, a grape and walnut fruit cup followed by a sausage egg bake that was about 3" tall an a bed of cheese grits with corn & beans topped with sprouts and served witha slightly spicy Southwest salsa.
The grounds are spectacular, they have 10 acres to explore, paths that lead to their natural spring. They have pitching and putting green for the golf enthusiast and a regulation size croquet lawn that allow sguests to enjoy some relaxed entertainment.
They were just recently granted Certified Wildlife Habitat status by the National Wildlife Federation. Birds, flowers abound. they have numerous raised beds for growing their own herbs. they have a large Koi pond, with numerous fish.
We loved our stay! Would definitely recommend this to friends!

We were not sure as we arrived late that evening but was met with a smile and helped us to our room. The room was very clean and it felt like home. The breakfast was super and we stayed for dinner both nights there and was never disappointed. My wife and I just walked the grounds and relaxed on the porch swing and was not bother by anyone. Great get a way for both of us.

Blue Spring Manor made for a lovely romantic weekend for my husband and I. We did not want to leave when it was over! The staff put SO MUCH THOUGHT into every aspect of the accommodations. Music was playing in our room when we checked in, a lamp was on, and the ceiling fans were turning slowly. Everything you could want or need was right at your fingertips. The staff had books all around and a big list of the movies you could borrow for the DVD and VCRs in the rooms. They provided a binder upon check-in with tons of detailed information on the property. At one point we needed more towels and discovered there was a whole basket of clean ones outside our door in the hallway! There were individual-cup coffee makers on every floor, tea and popcorn available for snacks, toothbrushes waiting in the room for those who forget theirs, beautiful art in the rooms, and such soft sheets and towels. It was just wonderful. Normally we feel claustrophobic in bed and breakfasts, but here we felt right at home. Our room was comfy, romantic, and relaxing and the big bathtub and shower were a special treat. We will likely be going here again- it was an incredibly peaceful, welcome retreat from life as usual. The free wi-fi was a nice touch too.

I have stayed at Blue Spring Manor many times over the years and I have yet to find another Inn/Bed and Breakfast that compares to this piece of heaven... The rooms and suites are all named and not numbered (one of the big things I like to see in small hotels). I've never slept in linens that felt so good.(they will even give you the recipe for how they make them feel so good). All of the staff there will go the distance in making you feel like a member of their own family.....The Innkeepers (Ray and Doris) are fantastic and have created an amazing environment for everyone (a full service spa for the ladies and chipping/putting green for the guys).....

I always look forward to making my next stay, and nobody in the state of Alabama can make as good a breakfast as what Doris and co. will put in front of you after a night of blissful sleep.

The grounds are wonderful, with nature trails, a tiered koi pond, a swimming pool and hot tub(so fun at night), a huge lawn with little hideaways that you can use for a picnic lunch (which the staff will prepare a wicker basket picnic basket for), and an herb garden that is where the staff picks fresh herbs for the meals (and a patio lunch spot).....It really is a sight to behold, I really recommend everyone who visits the Birmingham area take a night or two at this wonderful gem of an inn.
