“Overall the hotel could have great possibilities...but for now...it was average!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Arrived for a event at Tuskegee University. When making the reservations initially, I was a little hesitant with the lack of attention I was getting on the phone. It was to be noted that we would be traveling from a distance and would like a early check in ( thought 12noon- is NOT really that early).
**** IMPORTANT*** Please note that when traveling to Tuskegee there is no major airport or bus/ train station in the town or within hour. You must fly or ride (bus or train) into from Atlanta Airport or Montgomery. After which you can take a shuttle ( Express 85 ) into Tuskegee. No one told us this information, we happen to research and obtained the information!
A car is a MUST. There are NO eateries that deliver or are within 20 minutes (other than a Burger king and Cornbread Fred family owned restaurant was in the town, but did not deliver)
You are truly at the mercy of the hotel restaurant and Bar ( which serves the same menu) if you do not have transportation....again we were not told this information, we learned from the experience!!!

When checking in we were told that NO rooms were available and we were early. After waiting 2 more hours and spoke with a front desk manger ( who tried to tell us we did not request early check in) she then looked on the file and found...aha! there was a note about early check in. (I guess now she was a little upset with us!! ??).

We checked in an hour AFTER the conversation, to later find out....there were only 10 rooms booked and they were not sold out the night before....so why were no rooms available for early check in....we are asking the same question!!!!

The rooms were fairly clean and neat, fairly large. No refrigerators or microwaves. .....bathrooms were a little dated but OK.

The air-conditioning unit worked, but we noticed that if you had anything in front or below the vent (3,5,8 feet away) would become "damp". - though there was no mildew smell.( thank goodness)

The pool area was OK, the pictures on trip advisor are dated and the buffet bar looks nothing like the picture.

Breakfast and lunch were OK and priced accordingly to a "conference center hotel standard", but dinner was overpriced to say it was the same menu we had for lunch, just three times the price!!!!
We learned that the veggies are farm fresh and the seafood delivered daily.

The day we were to check out..the power went off in the hotel.
We were told that it was a "scheduled" maintenance repair that the do yearly.
The University nor the hotel staff were aware of this event, the stairwells were dark and the hotel became hot, no breakfast or lunch ( due to the restaurant not being able to cook).

To tell you the truth I always thought that Southern hospitality was given.... But I don't think that Tuskegee got the memo!!!!

Thank You to .....Tamika, Josh, Mr. Murray, Erica, the mgr at the campus book store and 2 security guards who were very friendly, professional and helpful.

Overall the hotel could have great possibilities...but for now...it was average.

Room Tip: Transportation issues, you NEED a car when visiting the University and or staying at The Kellogg Hot...

We were visiting my uncle in Tuskegee and we wanted to be close to his home. This property needs much improvement; i.e. service all around, the room and hall ways were very dirty, Unless this property is updated we will not stay there again and could not recommend anyone stay there.

Room Tip: All the rooms need to be upgraded so there are no good rooms.

My family of six recently visited The Tuskegee Institute as an extension to our homeschool study. We chose to stay at the Kellogg Hotel because of its location within the University campus. We were directly next door to the Carver Museum and a short walk from The Oaks, Booker T. Washington's home. We were well pleased with the hotel because of its location and history. It served our learning experience well. The hotel lobby is nice and the food in the downstairs restaurant was wonderful. We especially enjoyed our breakfast. However, the rooms are a bit dated and in need of renovation. New carpeting, fresh paint, and a bathroom remodel would greatly increase the appeal of the accommodations. The rooms could use an overall "lift" to provide a fresher feel and look. If we were visiting the area for vacation or any other purpose, The Kellogg would probably not be our first choice. However, we enjoyed our one night stay because it enhanced our educational experience and we were able to spend more time on the University campus. The staff did a wonderful job answering our questions and greeting us warmly. We left satisfied and thrilled about all the wonderful information and inspiration gained. Choosing the Kellogg was the right choice as it served a specific purpose for our educational experience.

Had a recent stay at this facility. It was okay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room is very dated and well used. The facility could use an upgrade. We had no major problems with our stay.
This is located on campus and the historical experience is great. Such an interesting part of history!
I did have a little trouble when making the reservation. The clerk was too busy talking to others around her or either distracted by those talking around her. It took about 5 tries before she was able to finally get my credit card information correct.

The hotel is located on the grounds of historic Tuskegee University. We had the opportunity to spend the night while in Alabama for a nostalgic getaway. The stay was first rate. The staff was very friendly and exceptionally helpful. We ate dinner and breakfast at the Kellogg Center and the quality of the food was very good as well. Would certainly recommend this property to anyone visiting Tuskegee.

Business brought me to Tuskegee, and I'm so thankful. The Kellogg Center is on the grounds of historic Tuskegee University where you can tour the George Washington Carver museum and Booker T. Washington's residence. The nearby airport houses the new Tuskegee Airmen historic site, a definite must. The University grounds, built by its students, are pristine and breathe its devotion to its largely scientific education as opportunity for Black Americans. A white like me can only imagine what it must have meant to countless students working & studying to fulfill the country's unrealized dream. Food at the Kellog's restaurant is very good. Rooms are 3-4 star quality.

I had a great stay, Dorothy Hall is a must stay, the Carver Suite is where George Washington Carver stayed when he was at Tuskegee University. Dorothy's Place restaurant served great food, and Skegee Lounge with live music on the weekend was excellent.

Room Tip: Near the Oaks and Tuskegee Airmen Field.
