“No problem stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2011

Thought location was good relative to university. Shopping mall, shopping village, pharmacies, eateries all start within 1/2 mile. Staff was accomodating, no problem with rooms, though first room seemed a bit musty or maybe old cooking odors, but gladly changed to another room which was find. First time to that area so no particular hotel allegiance. Within a block or two was a Microtel and Holiday Inn Express. Appeared to be equivalent properties.

Solo female traveler visiting my son at UA for the weekend. I was greeted warmly, by friendly and efficient personnel. My room was spacious, clean, and the temperture was perfect, nice and cool. I can't stand walking into a hotel room, where it is warm and stuffy. I initally had problems connecting to the internet, called the front desk, they PROMPTLY sent a young man up to fix the problem, which was on my end, not theirs!! Parking was easy and plentiful. Location was supurb.

The bedding was clean, and the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. Although the room was an inside corrider room, there was NO noise from the other rooms nor outside.

The only down side, if there is one, is there is no elevator to the second floor, so I had to carry my belongings up the stairs. I am sure they would have accomadated me should I have requested a ground floor room.

I have found the one and only place to stay at in Tuscaloosa! I will return many times in the next couple of years.

For your next visit to Tuscaloosa, we have two buildings at this location with different floor plans and the newer Suites building has three floors with an elevator. If you choose to stay in the Studios building again, just ask for a ground floor room when making your reservation if you'd prefer not to use the stairs. We're glad you enjoyed your visit and thanks for choosing to stay with us!

This was our first time to ever stay in Hometowne Suites and we really enjoyed it. The price was right, the rooms were beautifully decorated, and the beds were very comfortable. It was close to shopping and other things in the area. We would definitely stay there again!

Having a table and chairs and a fridge were a nice amenities. The location was a few miles from campus and not too close to any restaurants or bars.

The price for a football weekend was decent relative to other hotels in the area.

Stayed here for the PSU/Bama game.

The location is fine. Not walkable to the game, but easy drive.
The rate was expensive, but not extreme.
The rooms were OK, some rug stains, but the linens were ok.
The staff was awesome. Very friendly and helpful.
The beds were decent. Better than avg I'd say for a 2* hotel.
The room smelled like smoke even though we were in a non-smoking room.
Since it was a "suite" hotel, there was no maid service.
The worst part was coming back to the room at midnight only to find a "roach-looking" bug on the ceiling.
Then, checking out in the morning, there was a huge cockroach by the door at the entrance of the hotel.

That was the last time we'll be staying there.

Tickets to the PSU vs Bama game - $. Flights and other arrangements to go to the game - $$. Finding out that the hotel in Tuscaloosa (that we booked in December 09) canceled our reservation without cause - Priceless.

NOTE: Reason given for cancellation sounds fishy.... they had a fire which limited the number of available rooms (nevermind that we booked in December 09) AND they just got a legal team working on a court case & that they MAY not be checked out by the time we would be checking in. Calls to Corporate provided no help to the situation, in short, I was told that they could cancel my reservation if they wanted to and did not need to provide a reason.

The room was large with a kitchen (everything but stove oven). The security was good. We had problems with the room key, but they went right to work correcting it. Friendly staff. The unit was about 50 yards from the road, so not much traffic noise.

Minor considerations: frame construction, so some noise from unit above (the clientele is quiet, so not much of a problem).
