“Good and comfortable hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Upon arriving at the hotel, the first impression was the cleanliness and nice interior. Unlike mosst hotels, their front desk is much lower, hence allowing customers and staff to interact better. Checking-in was smooth and fast.

I stayed in the corner suite and it was huge. Bathroom was great and complete with everything that I had hoped for. The whole room was very clean and comfy. Bed was clean, no stains and very nice to sleep on.

Staff were great and fast. i asked for an universal adapter and it was delivered promptly to my room. There was free wifi in the room and I could request for additional ids to surf on my other devices.

Room service was ok - meal selection was somewhat limited though. The food I ordered did not taste that good.

Breakfast was alright, decent choices.

Overall, this hotel is definitely a great hotel to stay in. With such comfy room, I could really stay in the room without going out. Pity that I stayed only for a night and would definitely look forward to staying in this hotel again.

The Concierge at this hotel was excellent. He assisted us with train tickets and bus tickets. He refunded our bus tickets after a misunderstanding with the bus company. All our communications with him were always with a smile and genuine warmth. He took pleasure in helping us. So, Thank You - our visit to Shanghai was made more memorable because of our encounter...

This hotel has not special interesting point a part the location that is strategic for its position.

I found a very annoying problem: if you try to connect to the WIFI, you need to know how to read chinese since the interface to the web is Chinanet and you have to guess how to do since the module is in Chinese. You need to get password and ID from reception and byt the way I lost half hour only to understand how to do. I guess that an hotel like this should have a own interface and not rely on the telecom.

Room average and with some not very well maintened sofà.

Good Check in, fast check out.

Price and value perception are not very well balanced.

This is great hotel for Puxi side in Shanghai if you are looking for great restaurant, bars, and flavor of old and modern Shanghai. Just a block away from Subway line 1 and 10 station, and in the middle of French Concession, give this place a try!

This review is one of a very kafkaesque experience where upon check-in my pregnant wife and I were turned down because we couldnt provide our passports until the morning as they were returned by the consulate of the country we are relocating to. To say that HoJo staff was unprofessional and uncustomer minded is to put it mildly, to say they barely spoke english might seem exagerated but when the MD answers my wife that he is pregnant is an example of their attitude at communicating with non Chinese nationals. After cancelling our 4 night booking and spending 45 very stresfull minutes we were both verbally and physically herrassed on exit by the MD and his doormen who were smoking by the taxi stand and muttering insults in chinese.
Having lived in China for 5 years and having travelled much in Asia this has been the worst hospitality experience ever and I want to share it with all of you.
When we left and relaxed at a cafe we checked availability on other hotels (one foreign one chinese chain) and both accepted to check us in without hesitation providing passports next morning as we did.
Ive written to HoJo chain to report this incident and anti-foreign attitude.

Great location close to Huaihuai Road in the center of Shanghai. Reasonable business hotel and nice rooms. Fast Internet. Good TV selection and also friendly staff. Good choice also for a longer business trip (I was staying almost 10 days).

The room was very clean but the heating/cooling system was awful. Despite my numerous attempts to turn the air on, nothing but hot air would come out :/ It was so hot in the room I couldn't sleep all week. It was like the hotel was generating heat but the elevators were sooo nice and cool. I was tempted to just ride the elevators all day.
the restaurant is not very good at all. I'm not a picky eater but the food didn't taste good and was quite soggy and salty.
The location is not ideal either, I had to take cabs all the time and there were not other restaurants around to even eat at.
To end on a good note, the room is very clean and the staff is quite attentive but I would not stay here again.
