“Dubious Hygene, but Cheap and well located”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2011

I use this hotel in Shanghai beacuse this is my employer´s choice due to its location and price. The price is very reasonable, and the Citadines is located right into the ex pats area in Jinqiao, Pudong, in Shanghai.
Aside from the good price and location, which are both good, the hotel has little to offer.
The rooms are clean, but they ALL smell like cigarrete smoke. Some are supposed to be non smoking, but there is nothing to prevent this, not even no smoking signs. Tha aisles and rooms smell like smoke.
The rooms are austere, but have the required ammenities for a business hotel. OK bathroom, good bed, flat TV. Mine also has a kitchennette, in case you want to bring your own food to your room, which I don´t recommend, beacuse, although the hotel restaurant is horrible, you have plenty to eat across the street in Hongfeng Lu. There are many places of all kinds of foods.
Breakfast is included, but is a low quality one, escept for the cofee, which is very good.
If you don´t mind cigarrete odor and smoke, you will be OK here. It´s a no frills place similar to any business hotel in the USA, but you can do better in Shanghai for a few more bucks per night.

Beds are hard, soundproofing is poor and the breakfast is terrible. Check in / Check out was speedy and efficient and the only positives I can take is the fact that it is within walking distance to my regional office and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 9th floor facing the courtyard not the road.

The rooms are clean and modernly furnished--Philips LCD, DVD player, hot water boiler, ref, plates, glasses, even a washing machine! Room came with free internet and a wireless router too so that was a great plus especially if you needed to work.

The walls may look a bit dirty at times though since the walls are all painted white though, it is inevitable that previous guests' luggage or shoes, etc. would mark the walls in some places making it appear a bit tired. However, with that exception, the rest of the furnishings, and the hotel itself looks great.

They have a good singaporean restaurant at the first floor which is great, and lots of other food choices within walking distance--i remember japanese, taiwanese, spanish, chinese, burgers, etc.

The breakfast is simple with limited choices and should be good enough. But not what you expect for a 3 or 4 star hotel--i believe it is the way the breakfast is presented that makes a big difference why people complain about it.

This place is run-down. There is no warmth to welcome you the minute you stepped into the lobby. The receptionists were not professionally attired. The rooms and furnishing looked tired....
