“Great experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

The hotel was in excellent condition and the service was outstanding. Very well maintained rooms and bathrooms. The towels were extra thick and the free internet access was very fast. The nearby park was great to walk around in, and it had a beautiful flower garden. The adjacent shopping mall was also very convenient and had a number of very good restaurants. I will definitely stay here on my next trip.

We had a suite on the 50th floor, with connecting rooms to a twin room as were travelling with young children. Both rooms were extremely spacious and the bathroom for the double room was luxurious -especially with the views!
The location was fantastic, easy acccess to the Metro -we were just sorry we only made it to Zhongshan park on the last day as it was much nicer than peoples square etc. The location next to the mall was great for picking up the extras we needed.
We ate in one night and the food was fantastic, the staff we very helpful, it was a great start to our first visit to China!

The biggest drawcard of the hotel, I believe, is it's location. It is situation on top of Longzimen shopping mall, which is connected to subway lines 2, 3 and 4. Line 2 connects Hongqiao airport and Pudong airport, plus Nanjing road and Pudong financial district along the way. When we stayed here, there was no need to ever take the taxi, which means no wasting time in traffic and no need to put in buffer time to get to the airport. We left the hotel at 11:30 AM for a 12:55 PM flight at Hongqiao and had plenty of time to spare at the airport.

In the mall, you will also find plenty of shops (lots of international brands, not high end luxury), eateries to suit any budget, and a cinema, very nice to watch a late movie and come back directly to the hotel without worrying about transport.

The hotel itself is in the top half of the tower, so like all hotels in a integrated building (mixed used for office and hotel), you have to change lifts from ground floor and guest rooms at the lobby.

The room itself is typical Marriott/Renaissance style, dark/red tones with marble for the bathroom, functional and will suit most travellers.

We only had breakfast in the hotel and it was very good. Worth mentioning is they have a special juice bar, salami counter, noodle bar, egg station (can make benedict) and waffle/pancake station.

Check in and check out was very smooth and there's always someone in the lobby to assist.

We usually stay at the Courtyard Puxi whenever in Shanghai, and have also stayed at the Renaissance Yu Gardens. This beats Renaissance Yu Gardens on rooms and location, but Courtyard is about 40% cheaper. For longer stays, I would still choose Courtyard for value, but for short stays where time is scarce and we need quick transfers, I will go with Renaissance Zhongshan Park.

This was my first time to Shanghai - here on business so can't speak to the location, but the hotel itself is very nice. As a Westerner, I appreciated the breakfast buffet which was huge and actually, extremely good. Was impressed by the fresh juice bar and organic free range eggs made any way you like.

Staff is everywhere, and everyone is very friendly and helpful and speaks excellent English. Rooms are very clean with plentiful amenties (hairdryer, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion/shampoo/conditioner, sewing kit, robe and slippers, tea/coffee system, shower cap...). Marriot Rewards members get free internet which is a nice touch. All in all - great stay.

We had 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Room was fine - though we did expect a bath as well as a shower for a 5 star hotel. Staff are very helpful and breakfast very good. Location beside the park is great - go to the park on Sunday, so much going on. Having a direct link into a great shopping mall is also useful and directly opposite the subway station if using public transport.

The Renaissance Zhongshan Park is an outstanding hotel for anyone traveling to Shanghai. Location, design, and offerings are all quite impressive. The staff is fluent in English and is most helpful. Rooms are modern, spacious, and ultra clean. The morning breakfast buffet is loaded with western and Asian specialties. You will find a retail shopping mall adjacent with an assortment of restaurants. Additionally, the beautiful Zhongshan Park is a short walk away. The ultra clean subway line makes travel to People's Square and the Bund quite easy and inexpensive.

This hotel has my strongest recommendation for visitors to the interesting city of Shanghai. Enjoy a special hotel at a special location.

Room Tip: At this hotel, every room is a great room!

Although this is a 5 star hotel, the rooms certainly don't feel 5 star at all. My 2-bed regular room is really cramped. Hardly any walking space left in the room around the beds. The bathroom is also tiny. Only a shower is provided since the space in the bathroom is so small, and the door into the shower awkwardly opens in a way that makes it hard to get in and out. The view to Zhongshan Park is ok but nothing to WoW about. I find having to go up to the 25th floor lobby, then switch elevators up to the rooms a bit annoying, but the hotel is located in the top part of a commercial building.

The best part about the hotel is the convenient access to the subway, shopping mall, supermarket in the B1/B2 level of the mall, and the eateries inside and outside the mall. The staff is always polite and the lady picking up laundry daily has the best smile.
