“Okay in most respects but......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

The Hyatt on the Bund is well located, in a good position along the Bund so naturally the views, given the right room, are stunning. Being a Hyatt of this vintage in design, its dark and gloomy in places, (apparently this is meant to be stylish) with little signage in some areas, so unless you know the layout it’s easy to get a bit lost in the place. The rooms are nice enough think modern chic. As mentioned in other reviews, yes the rooms are stuffy and my request for this to be corrected fell on deaf ears. Bed wise, while I know this is a very personal matter, I found the bed to be a bit lumpy with little give for any real comfort. As such between a stuffy room and bed issue, it was not a comfortable stay at all. On a similar vein the desk chair in the room is very hard as are the chairs in the club lounge. Service on the Club Lounge floor is professional and attentive with an excellent breakfast on offer. This makes up for some obvious wear on the furnishings. My overall verdict is that it is a nice hotel, with good food and reasonable enough service, they just need to fine tune their act a bit to bring things up to par to stand out.

Room Tip: High floor with a Bund view.

First time at this hotel in Shanghai. Whilst i may have been spoilt at other hotels where the staff cant wait to help with cases, and doors and check-in, there was not one person at the entrance or the lobby area who was willing, or indeed looked interested, in helping with my luggage. The check-in staff looked miserable, and were very short during the check in process. No advise around what was located where in the hotel. No help with cases up to the room once checked-in.
Layout of the room was "different", with only a sliding dividing wall between bedroom and bathroom. When the dividing wall is in place, theres not access to the drawers or mini bar behind it. Wardrobe is open plan, so no privacy or security for clothes. Air con only went as low as 18 degrees and only on heat, never on cold, so the room was always too hot.
On a positive note, the Vue bar on the 32nd floor has the some of the best views in town, in a very comfortable setting. The drinks are expensive, but then i guess you are paying for that view (the drinks cost the same even if you dont look out of the window!). One bar tender in particular was very efficient, and took care and attention to the cocktails he made and the service he gave - not like the younger lads who threw them together with little thought.
The breakfast area is very roomy, and pleasant, and the food selection is good for all nationalilities.
Overall, the hotel is "nice", but the welcome and the lobby service leaves a lot to be desired.

Room Tip: Ask to look at both layout types, integrated and non-integrated.

We came to Shanghai for a wedding and stayed in the River view rooms 26th floor which have a fantastic view of the Bund. The suites have an even better view!
The room was v comfortable and service was good. Too hot most of the time - the temp could not be set any lower and we had to get them to open a window for us.
The breakfast restaurant was a bit dingy, food was OK. The wedding on the top floor was amazing with panoramic views. Pickup from the airport was fine, if a bit exoensive and many thanks to the Hyatt for getting our room ready for us early, it made our stay even more comfortable

Room Tip: High floor, river view is a must

Hyatt On The Bund is a beautiful Hotel on the banks of Pu River, and the view from the Eastern Towers of the river and all the Sky Scrapers is awesome. Good food and very good for breakfast. Good for Conferences too.

Room Tip: East Towers have direct view of the River and Tall Landmarks.

Nice hotel with a view from every room, and a convenient walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the riverfront. The breakfast buffet is amazing. Enjoying a drink and the view from the Vue at night is a must!

Room Tip: Rooms are a bit too warm on the higher floors and the air quality makes you think twice about openin...

I booked a bund view suite for my bday with late check out and I went there with my girlfriend. It was an amazing experience. We found champagne and fruit at the arrival. At the last floor there is a very cool bar with a super top view. The service very good. A Wonderful and unforgettable night.
