“Don't miss the happy hour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

My very first bar in Shanghai. Nice staff, nice beer and cocktails. Laying on the corner of the famous Henshan Rd., this is a hot spot every night!

“THE place to go to on Tuesdays”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

Shanghai Brewery has a great atmosphere with loads of expats and visitors. Ground floor is for smokers, the first floor is for those who don't like the smoke. The food is delicious, especially the burgers (try Godfather Burger!) and you can get 2 for the price of 1 on Tuesdays. They also have happy hours for drinks, but do not expect the same variety of beers as from a brewery in, for example, Germany. You will still be able to find something to your liking though.

“one of the best place for beers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

Love their happy hours ... super tasty beers for 30rmb ... but sometimes does not have all of their menu.

Great place for watching soccer game ... was open all night long for World Cup ...

Food is really average ... especially hummus or chicken rings... that we took with our beers ...

“what a choice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

A lot of choice, however some beers are just not good, more water witha beertaste. The Hoppy Monk and the Black Rabbit are very good. The peac beer is fake, with lemonade. How dare they.
But a good atmosphere and good food! Nice place, but they could improve beer variation.

“Great beer, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

It's not called Shanghai Brewery for nothing. While decent craft beers are thankfully becoming more and more popular in China, this place by no means falls behind. Always a good selection of 5/6 draught beers and a new cider option that has appeared recently. The IPA is cloudy and strong in every sense, served in beautiful tall glasses. They do decent food deals too, make sure to catch the deal you want on the relevant night - Tuesday BOGOF burgers come recommended but you need about an hour to digest and recover afterwards, so be warned! To get a decent value beer its best to hit the happy hour that finished at 8pm during the week where beers are 30RMB. After that they go up into the typical Shanghai unreasonable zone of 45RMB plus for a beer, not a good deal for even the best beer in the world.

Good atmosphere, usually packed with people from after work until a bit after the end of happy hour. They have sports on the TVs but it doesn't seem to attract a serious sport watching crowd, they all head down the road to Camel Bar. It also has lots of outside seating, both at the front and the side, great for people watching.

Service is OK, but its impossible to find a waiter in the 30 minutes before the end of happy hour, despite several loud calls for fuwuyuan they always ignore you, so best to get your extra beers in way in advance. Apart from that, great place!
