“Very Reasonable Priced Hotel in Shanghai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The Majesty Plaza is an oasis in Shanghai. I believe it is affiliated with Ramada but it functions as an indenpendent hotel. The rooms were a bit cozy but the service great as were the amenities. Great service and great lobby bar.

If you are an executive guest, you get access to the lounge on the 25th floor and the cigar bar as well. I spent several mornings reading the paper (English) and admiring the view from the 25th floor.

The hotel has a spa and the massages were very reasonably priced. They call their spa the "sports center" but it is well done and offers a great way to relax after a day in bustling Shanghai

If you're expecting Western-style service from a hotel, give this place a big miss. The staff hardly speaks any English, and the service is atrocious. When I pulled up with my taxi to the front door, the porter walked away and did not bother helping me with my bags. There is a huge lobby with the bar area serving no food believe it or not, not even sandwiches. When I asked where I could get a sandwich in the hotel, the receptionist told me to go to the Subway across the street. I have never been to subway in the US and no way I'll go here. And if u want to do any work in your room forget it; the Internet speed is from the dial up days of the mid 90's. Give this place a miss. I am stuck here at a conference but sure as hell not coming back...

The hotel is an old fashioned hotel, the design and everything, the only reason we choose this hotel because of the location, it is near to the Bund, and it is just walking distance only.
Breakfast start early 6am to 10am, the selection they put up is quiet international, so I am quite happy with it only the coffee standard need to be upgraded a bit, price wise for the hotel per room per night is a good price comparing to Sofitel just down a couple of blocks away.
Taxis can be arrange from the concierge and security, just let them know where you want to go they will let the taxis driver know, and the driver will bring you.
The location is everything for this hotel, all the branded name shop is all around here. So what need more to be said.
Housekeeping here is a problem, if you don't put any sign say to clean up the room they will not clean up.

Great location but highly priced, Good for shopping and visiting many places without much trouble. subway station is not far, some good restaurants are quite nearby. Never try this hotel's break fast, the whole area is smelly and you get nothing worth to eat. fruit spread on breakfast is very poor and no choice of breads for people who do not eat meat and seafood for breakfast. I do not suggest this hotel for people who depend upon hotel's breakfast. They are very smart to make money, so they never offer rooms including breakfast, you have to pay over USD 20 for such a pathetic breakfast. Marble and fancy decorations are so cheap and i really wonder how other guests have praised about this. There is no one to take your luggage upto your room and i you have to push it through the dirty carpets on the floor of the guest rooms.

Room Tip: Just count on your luck to get a good room, haha, thats all i can say. Dont think i would stay here...

We spent four days there last month as part of a tour and because almost none of the staff spoke english we were unable to get any assistance from the staff. The food was not up to the usual high standards of most chinese hotels and in order to get any help or directions we ended up going to the hotel next door. Unless you are fluent in chinese you should avoid this hotel.

The Hotel is very impressive, all marble and fancy decorations, rooms are specious, clean and featured to a high degree. Breakfast (mine was included) is good with both Chinese and Western food with reasonable quality. Location is the best in Shanghai right on the main historic shopping street. For business, there is a Business Center but the facilities (copy, print, etc...) are 1990s... , internet is free but very slow and choppy. I have a particular incident of long headache that did not go away with the regular water and rest and I realized I forgot my First Aid kit this time. It was after dinner and the hotel did not have any Tylanol/Advil or the like nor there is any open pharmacy in the area. Be aware...
