“Always an excellent experience”

Stay at this hotel regularly and am never disappointed. Must be one of best value hotels in Shanghai
Room standard is very high. Staff are always helpful and friendly A particular favorite is the Japanese Restuarant on the 1st floor.

This stay was during the Shanghai Motor Show and even though hotel was full the high standard was still maintained

This is my hotel of choice when staying in Shanghai.

Best location to where i need to be for about 8days stay in shanghai. However i do find their rates too high compared to alot of other hotels.

Rooms and other aspects of this hotel is 5*.

For my previous stays in this hotel, wifi had to be chargeable even for platinum members which i never paid especially when i stay in executive rooms. But for this time, i was told since jan 2013, they have started giving free internet for priorityclub members (or plat members). So it was good news - aligned with other IHG hotels.

2 staff i would like to highlight for their great service/attitude.

Linda from executive lounge. A role model and doesnt engage in casual and loud chitchats amongst staff unlike others. Projects a professional image and greets every guests with a smile.

Val? (guy) From the concierge. Professional, courteous, knows the area well, gives good recommendation on amenities. Greets every guests with a smile.

Cons: carpark was subcontracted to an external vendor. Its chargeable even for hotel guests and you got to pay cash and cannot charge to the room. As carpark attendents are not part of IHG, they also do not display the same type of professionalism, training from a typical IHG staff.

I stayed for 3 days business trip.
The service is ok, facilities are quite new, the view was nice.
Although it's far from subway, there were restaurants and convenient stores very closely.
However the room rate was too high.
They charged extra fee for room wifi which was not stable and speed was slow.

I won't choose this hotel next time if I had other options.

I used this hotel for a recent 2 week business trip to Shanghai. It was one of only two choices that our travel department offered. It was very near to the office, which was convenient.

The good things:

It was clean and safe. The rooms were nicely decorated. TV included some western channels (sports, CNN, BBC, movies), which I appreciate. It is convenient to the Metro (line 4). the neighborhood is also safe (although there is not a lot to do there - it's about one mile to the Science and Technology museum).

The bad things:

The air conditioning in my room did not work well. No matter what the setting, I could not get the room to go below 25C. Fortunately, it was not summer.

Not having free internet, in this age, and at this price, is inexcusable. I've stayed at Motel 6s in the US that had free wireless. Worse than not being free, it was very expensive (80 RMB/day).

Breakfast was also ungodly expensive: 140RMB. For 3 RMB, you can get two baozi from a nearby street vendor.

Everything was expensive here. I saw a sign at the entrance that you can rent a bicycle for 300RMB/day (not that I considered this - I'm not brave enough to ride a bicycle in Shanghai). At a supermarket 3 blocks away, you can buy a brand new bicycle for 470RMB!

I won't be staying here on future Shanghai trips.

Room Tip: make sure the A/C works

Front desk staff need to be better trained, as they do not provide good customer service. Given subpar room, with two beds combined into one super sized bed. I would definitely go for another hotel in the area. Even the holiday inn expresses are better than this hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid at all costs

Insofar as you can say anything meaningful after a place you stay in for 12 hours...here we go.

The hotel is centrally located (for business anyway), clean and well done. The staff are helpful and efficient. I found their English great, and that they were pleasant and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed - and my wifi worked properly! Comfortable beds, nice toiletries, snazzy bathrooms.

I was upgraded on check in, which automatically gets them an extra point in my book.

Room Tip: Smile nicely and have your loyalty card with you. Might get you an upgrade

This is at best a functional hotel. A place tk lay your head for the night. Staff speak very little english and whilst this isnt always a problem I found that there weren't many smiles around from the staff.
The room was ok. Clean and well kept. Mini bar is expensive but then they all are. Wireless is not difficult to use but requires a laptop to connect to first, or a call to Guest Services if you have an iPhone or iPad which so many of us have. It wasn't particularly reliable though.
It is apparent in some areas that guests are little respected. Twice eating at the restaurant they decided to bring out my main course with my starter and they completely neglected to ask how I would like my steak cooked.
This hotel lacks attention to detail.
