“Great Views & Excellent Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

I stayed here for 3 nights and was very happy with all aspects of my stay. The rooms are a good size and the bathrooms are quite large. All employees from check in to check out were extremely helpful and professional.
I ate in the Japanese and Grill bar, both were very good but not cheap.
The gym and spa area was very extensive, quite a few running machines, and both free weights and cable machines, the sauna, steam room and pool were also good.
To be honest a lot of EU and US hotels should take a good hard look at this place and take some notes, this is how a hotel should be!

Room Tip: Don't worry to much about which floor or which direction you face, the views are good in al of t...

Although Peninsula hotel in Shanghai has always been my choice, but this time not getting a reservation I opted for the Grand Hyatt. Reservation on line was easy and I could get a two nights reservations with a reasonable price. Upon arrival, I found the Jin Mao Tower where the hotel is located (54-85 floors) just fascinating. In a clear day, the hotel offers one of the most memorable picturesque view of the City which I believe worth a million. The Hotel is staffed with well trained and adequately present personnel and the tall and well dressed Austrian Manager is extremely polite, helpful and caring. Although in comparison with the Hyatt club lunge in Hong Kong, the offering was not as generous but most dishes offered with certain quality, leaving room for little complaints. Breakfast is expensive, but nothing is cheap in Shanghai anyway. I advise travelers who wish to stay in this magnificent hotel to chose the corner rooms which are adorned with ceiling to floor windows on both side of tastefully furnished rooms. In all, I must say it was a memorable stay.

88 floors of amazing hotel next to the two tallest buildings in China. Typically pudong. Modern but fails to live up to the standard of a new hotel particularly after experiencing the newer version in Shenzhen. Smaller rooms with awkward bathrooms. Comfortable but starting to look and feel dated. Disappointing western breakfast but great service from chef Jenny for amazing soup with dumplings.

The hotel occupies some middle to top floor of the building and you therefore enjoy a great view. Service in line with Hyatt standards but you have to like flashy decorations, gold on the wall, mirrors in the bathroom. Did the job. Great bat at the top of the tower.

one of the greatest city hotels, I have ever stayed in my entire travelling around the world experience. Wow.. on the 57th floor I was swimming and looking down on Shanghai !
If you visit this huge city in China .. you must stay at the Grand Hyatt Pudong. Having breakfast on the 54th floor or a good nite drink on the 88th floor.. Its awsome.. I am from a small town in Switzerland.. how will I tell that to my friends.. ? They will not believe me :)

Room Tip: there is no bad room. I do not like carpets in hotelrooms, however it was clean and not smelly.

Have stayed in this hotel many times and it still impresses me. The elevator up to the lobby's, higher the most tall buildings in Europe. But then from lobby level up to I think 88e floor there is an atrium around which the rooms are built.
Very impressive.

Be aware, some rooms are really small as where others are much bigger and some corner rooms are simple huge.

The only issue I had several times is staff which did not speak well English and from time to time straight forward arrogant.

Something I have never experienced across the street I the sister property park Hyatt.

Other then that, impressive and good hotel.

The hotel starts on the 54th floor so all floors have a great view. The rooms were exceptionally well fitted and the service was excellent. The staff in all areas could not have been more polite and helpful. Great cocktails on Cloud Nine
