“Average to good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Would have clicked a "good" box if available, so average may be a bit harsh, however certainly not very good. This is a conveniently located hotel on the Nan Jing Road. Suitable for business stays, with efficient and polite staff. Breakfast is certainly average, although a wide variety of dishes. Still can't work out why hotels only serve chicken sausages even in non Muslim countries. The room was fine, a little tired, but fine for a couple of night.

Wonderful hotel, great rooms with amazing panoramic views. Staff speak very good english, very helpful and pleasant. I needed to get an appointment with a skin doctor for a rash and the hotel put me in touch with SOS international (part of the service the hotel offers). I spoke to very helpful staff and also a doctor on the phone who referred me to an english speaking doctor in shanghai, all done so quickly, professionally and free. Excellent service. Also the concierge booked us acrobatics show tickets with ease. The spa was beautiful and the therapists, very skilled and professional, I had foot reflexology, I would recommend that. Also very comfortable beds and good food. Very high standards hotel.

Room Tip: We booked a corner room, more pricey but you can get amazing views on 2 sides

I stayed here for 3 nights in September while on a biz visit. Since the regular rooms were full, i was put up in the service apartments which was not a bad thing at all. The service apartment was incredibly big, fully furnished and with a fantastic view of the city. Luxury is the word

The location was ideal for me as my office was just aross the road. The bund is only about 15 to 20 mins by walk from the hotel and quite a few nice hangouts nearby. The Barbarossa bar was a good one..

I checked out the 60th floor library, but was a lil dissapointed as i was expecting a panoramic view of the city but i found it was walled in. Maybe i missed asking someone as i read a review here which says there is indeed a view. The food was great, be it breakfast or at any of the restaurants in the place , the service level never bad..

But yeah be careful about taking a taxi early mornin to the airport from right outside the hotel I got ripped off payin some 300 RMB.

I've been many time in the JW Marriott and it was excellent but not the food ,,,,,,,, it is average and do not match the luxury of this 5 stars hotel, the VIP Lounge has changed a lots and the food at the snack has become poor and tasteless ,,, its a pity to see it down from the best in Shanghai to a regular lounge :(

This hotel is an oasis of calm above the franticness of Shanghai.
Rooms are a bit dark and depressing but fine.
Pool is great, if you can be bothered with the trek.
Breakfast is amazing.
Service fantastic.
Oolong Ginseng tea in the lobby is a treat.
Massage a bit weak
View from the balcony at the highest library in the world is totally and utterly breathtaking if they let you have a look.

Room Tip: they're all okay...higher the better

Top notch views of the city in a great location. I recently stayed one night in a suite for a business layover between a work trip to Suzhou. The amenities were top notch and the area was very central with no attraction greater than a $3.00 cab
fare. The room was very large with windows across one whole view on the 41st floor looking over the skyline. In room toiletries were better than average and the staff was very helpful. Great pool and work out facility but the restaurant was a bit on the expensive side. I paid the equivalent of $33 US dollars for the brunch that while tasty was more than I required. Overall god experience and I would stay here again when visiting Shanghai.

Room Tip: Great business travel location and central to all parts of the city

STayed for three nights while on business in Shanghai. Location is superb, service was excellent and the rooms and bathrooms are an absolute treat. But (and its a big but) you pay for this - room rates are expensive and so is internet (mine was free since I am a Marriott member). Breakfast buffet is excellent but it is not included in the room rate and was very costly. Furthermore I dont need a huge buffet every day. Highly recommend that the hotel offer breakfast alternatives to the buffet for business travellers.

Room Tip: I was upgraded to a corner room - amazing views. The hotel starts at the 38th floor so the views ove...
