The location was ideal for me as my office was just aross the road. The bund is only about 15 to 20 mins by walk from the hotel and quite a few nice hangouts nearby. The Barbarossa bar was a good one..

I checked out the 60th floor library, but was a lil dissapointed as i was expecting a panoramic view of the city but i found it was walled in. Maybe i missed asking someone as i read a review here which says there is indeed a view. The food was great, be it breakfast or at any of the restaurants in the place , the service level never bad..

But yeah be careful about taking a taxi early mornin to the airport from right outside the hotel I got ripped off payin some 300 RMB.

I've been many time in the JW Marriott and it was excellent but not the food ,,,,,,,, it is average and do not match the luxury of this 5 stars hotel, the VIP Lounge has changed a lots and the food at the snack has become poor and tasteless ,,, its a pity to see it down from the best in Shanghai to a regular lounge :(

This hotel is an oasis of calm above the franticness of Shanghai.
Rooms are a bit dark and depressing but fine.
Pool is great, if you can be bothered with the trek.
Breakfast is amazing.
Service fantastic.
Oolong Ginseng tea in the lobby is a treat.
Massage a bit weak
View from the balcony at the highest library in the world is totally and utterly breathtaking if they let you have a look.

Top notch views of the city in a great location. I recently stayed one night in a suite for a business layover between a work trip to Suzhou. The amenities were top notch and the area was very central with no attraction greater than a $3.00 cab
fare. The room was very large with windows across one whole view on the 41st floor looking over the skyline. In room toiletries were better than average and the staff was very helpful. Great pool and work out facility but the restaurant was a bit on the expensive side. I paid the equivalent of $33 US dollars for the brunch that while tasty was more than I required. Overall god experience and I would stay here again when visiting Shanghai.
