“Perfect stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

This JW Marriott is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at! I think it truly deserves six stars. The views from the lobby and the room are great and the location is ideal to discover the city. But the best thing about the hotel is the level of service they provide, which is really incomparable! To me it seems like they have many more employees than guests. For example during the Check-In there were 5 staff members dealing just with us. Thank you! The club lounge is one of the best I've ever seen. The breakfast offers high quality products and is really worth the high fees for it. At my next stay in Shanghai I won't even consider hotel than this. It is sad that this hotel is not better promoted on travel websites in Europe, because it offers an outstanding value.

Would I stay again? Yes.

The JW Marriott is centrally located on Nanking Road with impeccable service from the minute I arrived at the door when the porter picked up my luggage. Every room enjoys amazing views of Remin Square as the lobby is located on the 38th floor and rooms above that. During my 3 night stay, I never encountered a rude or unhelpful staff. It has an amazing gym for a hotel plus a 25m pool.

In terms of décor, it's the generic business hotel but everything is in great condition.

The only gripe is that prostitutes kept soliciting my boyfriend (on 2 of the 3 nights we stayed) when he was alone on the bar/cigar lounge (the only place where he could smoke). I know prostitution is rampant through Shanghai but expected the hotel staff to be better able to keep it under control.

Was fortunate enough to visit Shanghai for my 60th birthday during a typhoon. The hotel is in an ideal location and treated us exceptionally well. They even bake me a cake for my birthday and brought it to the room. The facility was excellent. The gym, which is important to me, was excellent. The staff were very attentive and accomadating. I travel a lot and would highly recommend this facility if you are in Shanghai.

Room Tip: I would recommend a high floor since the veiw from the Hotel of Shanghai is exceptional.

Very well located at Tomorrow Square, close to the city center and to the Bund and with typical JW Marriott service and quality
Pluses:
Location
Everything works
Limmo service to/from the airport is comfortable and high quality (Mercedes S)
Very good gym
Minuses:
Very confusing elevators - some go to some floors, others to other floors - takes a couple of days to get used to them. Not good when you are in a hurry.

This is a very nice hotel from all points of view: service, design, location, food, cleanness – everything, really. Wonderful five star property for except the Executive Lounge, with is three stars by the service, food and attitude: food choice is rather poor plus you have to wait while they replenish it - and you have to ask about it. Finally, you feel as you are begging good people there to feed you They condescend sometimes to your needs (but definitely unhappy that you interrupt their Internet serfing), but sometimes be ready to hear «Could you come later?» - no kidding! For China with its great service everywhere this is not even funny!)

Location for shopping can't be beat, but it is an hour from Pudong Airport. Its expensive $300 night at least the food was ok by US standards. If you work out its got a great GYM for a hotel. The mattress id firm but not too firm , the A/C will go way down! I was on the 55th floor and the view was spectacular..service was great..but no sundries shop in the hotel gotta leave if you need something. The room is big with seperate bath tub and shower which was nice. If you are alone the professional ladies on Nanjing road are relentless, can't take ten steps, no good for me as I am not interested in that lifestyle, so it made shopping very difficult. Go to old town a few blocks away and shop under ground a real experience, one block behind hotel is a street with odd"pets" for sale ..lots of crickets too..pass by

Room Tip: Get a corner room

I stayed at the Marriott in Shanghai; the service was excellent, and my room was very contemporary and very, very clean. The Front Desk personnel were very accustomed to world travelers and had no problem in discussing currency exchange rates, shipping of gifts to back home and the Hotel amenities. the Hotel has a great cocktail lounge and a Restaurant, and it very centrally located with shops and restaurants nearby.
