“don't miss the cocktail terrace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

The restaurant was very dimly lit and I had to use the torch app on my mobile phone to see the menu. We had the stir fried spicy beef which was really good and the Burmese Beef curry (also good). The highlight of the evening was the cocktail bar upstairs on the terrace. The water melon & coriander margarita was sensational.

“Worth the reputation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

Lost Heaven has done much to make Yunnan more reknowned and how happy we are that they have! Gorgeous interiors (not always the case in China), impeccable service, exquisite food, a decent wine list; the touches of semi-traditional clothing to the staff uniform adds to the general surroundings. They have several outlets, which can cater to couples, families, friends, business and even solo. Having gone through most of the menu it is hard to recommend any particular dish as everything is delicious, precise, complex and beautifully presented. You simply can't go wrong. Still, a couple of interesting dish options are those that include fruit blossoms and some excellent Burmese (take not those who never rated Burmese food much; as I did I must say; I could not say how authentic these Burmese dishes are but either way they were delicious). It is very popular, so reservations on busy nights - Thursday to Sunday - are recommended. The one on the Bund can get outright noisy, thankfully (as well as amusingly) it seems to be between the very specific times of 6 to 9pm; we once sat down around 830 to a fully booked, noisy restaurant and by 9 there were only a few tables still eating! The one on the Bund also has a large top floor bar great for private events and a second floor with an outside deck. Very efficient booking team. Some say a touch expensive; I say worth it.

“Great atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

Great atmosphere, good service, very tastful food, Staff is realy taking care.It is a huge restaurant but every corner of the restaurant have their own waiters so you get the best care. Wine is overpriced but this is in every Chinese restaurant. Not typical Chinese food so it is good to taste something different!

“Heavenly food on the bund”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Very nice restaurant on the edge of the bund. Recommend for a nice romantic dinner with a walk along the bund afterwards. Food was fantastic and service was decent. Only negative comment I can think of is the lighting in the restaurant made it hard to read the menus.(pretty much candles and extremely dim lights above) Staff speak good English.

“Lost Heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

We were there for a company's group party. We had a set dinner of 8 courses. The food was very tasty - more of Thai/Yunan fusion. It was mid week when we were there, but the restaurant was packed. Few of the dishes that should be commended - the vegetable pancakes was crisp and goes very well with the accompanying salsa; Spicy Cod fish baked in herbs wrapped in banana leaf was delicious as well as the Dali chicken with chilli and onions - very unusual.
