“Street Eats Night Markets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Loved it! This was a brilliant way to try some local delicacies (baby crayfish, stinky tofu etc), watch noodles being made and just soak up the market life. We had a group of about 8, led by Ana. Moved at a good pace through the markets, stopping to eat at a couple of restaurants.

“Death by Dumplings (a good thing)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

On our recent trip to Shanghai, we wanted to try some of those dumplings that Shanghai is famous for. Having booked our tour with Kyle, the communication was spot on. Fortunately one member of our group was fluent in Mandarin and was able to get us to the meeting spot. (even though the directions included taxi instructions in Mandarin)

The tour group included us and a small number of other participants. Kyle was punctual and off we went. Over the course of the next three hours, we tried a variety of dumplings in an array of small shops/restaurants and stalls and one high-end restaurant. The tour involves walking so if you're going to book this, make sure you have comfortable shoes. And when they warn you to come hungry, they mean it. But the last stop (an incredible bowl of soup with MANY wontons), some people were too stuffed to try it. (a shame since this was the best stop) He also guided us through a fish market and highlighted some items not found in the US.

Kyle found time to talk with each person one on one, a very nice touch. When the tour was over, we asked where we could find a particular item and he walked with us to take us to the appropriate store. We got another 45 min private tour.

The only drawback to this tour (if there is one) is that there was too much food. Would we book this again? Yep! Loved it.

“Dumplings with a wonderful host”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Just wanted to say a huge THANKS for having Carla take us around for the Dumpling Delights tour - what an exceptional guide she is and the hours just flew by with her. She was so gracious and thoughtful. We'll be sure to check out her recommendations she so kindly typed up.
Your Dumpling Tour was absolutely a highlight of our trip and we went back the next day to the same stalls for breakfast! The stall owners remembered us and were so patient with our stunted Chinese.

The best 3 hours we had in Shanghai!

“Awesome Running Tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

I was very happy to discover this tour! I had never done a running tour before and I thought it would be a great way to discover Shanghai while getting some good exercise -- I was right! I met Kyle (the guide) on my first full day in Shanghai. He was wearing a bright yellow shirt which I really appreciated so I could find him on the street. He took me to some beautiful areas of the city such as the French Concession, Tianzifang art enclave and the Bund. He was knowledgeable about the city's history and provided me with some great recommendations about what to do during my visit. Highly recommended!

“Delightful dumplings in delightful company”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

Being in Shanghai for 5 days on a business trip with very little time for sightseeing or exploring, ‘UnTour’ provided a perfect way to at least get a little taste of the city in the course of three hours.
The ‘dumpling delights’ tour in the delightful company of our guide Kyle, as well as two ‘fellow foodies’, was a delicious diversion.
Being able to explore some of Shanghai’s culinary treasures in the safe hands of a knowledgeable and enthusiastic local at a leisurely pace proved to be a relaxing, informative and thoroughly enjoyable experience.
I would definitely advise anyone going to Shanghai to check out UnTour’s offers!
