I lived in an apartment in this area long before the change. At that time, I used to hear the "old timers" spin yarns nightly about how Duolun Road was back in the day, back in the Roaring 20s and the turbulent 30s. Now the city has beautified the area, restoring it (to an extent, albeit) to its former glory. Wear your walking shoes, as you are in for a good trek. And it would be highly recommended that you brush up on your history of the area before arriving--if nothing else, check out Wiki's webpage, which has a pretty decent amount of info.
