“Beautiful Park area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

If this is what I am assuming it is, this area of town, People's Square has a lovely park and some amazing sculptures to be seen. You can also pass by the area of the park where the elders come on weekends to match make their single children. This is something you will never see outside of China. Its something else.

“Imposing memorial”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

Best seen at night to cap off a leisurely walk along the Bund working off dinner and taking in all the lights. A triangulated obelisk commemerorating war dead. Take time to look at the bas relief carvings lining the walls of the sunken plaza. Just to the north is the bridge over which war refugees fled ahead of the Japanese from the east side of the river to the French Concession area in WWII.

“At the top of the Bund...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2011

The People's Heroes Monument is an obelisk at the northern-most section of the Bund. It is fairly imposing from an architectural standpoint and looks even better at night under lights. Provides a good photo-op if you're looking for one in the area and get sick of taking pictures of the Pearl Tower. There are some intriguing stone reliefs at the base of the monument that appear to tell the history of certain eras of China. To my knowledge you cannot climb this structure but I think there is a museum underneath as well. Worth a quick glance as you tour the area.
