“Mag Lev from Pudong Airport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

8 minute ride to the city. Definitely worth the experience. It is easy to find at the airport (although its a long walk, but they have free carts). Lots of room on the train for luggage storage.

“Simply Amazing...Would be Terrific if Had in USA!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

We had the pleasure of spending two weeks in China during the last two weeks of December 2012, starting in Shanghai for six nights and then spending three nights in both Nanjing and Hangzhou. We took the G or Bullet train both to Nanjing from Shanghai and then from Nanjing to Hangzhou. I'll share our experiences of getting to the stations, navigating the train stations,  the train rides and whether or not we would do again.

First  getting to the stations. Each train station was around 10-15 minutes from our hotel.  Just to be on safe side we left around 70 minutes or so prior to departure. Yes, the trains leave promptly on time. Getting to the stations was easy, getting on train the first time challenging. When we got to the Shanghai station we found some porters and thought it would be good idea to use them. Little did we know that the cost per porter would be 10 times what we pay in US. First, was station "toll collector" and then the porters. We learned and did not do on our leg to Hangzhou.

Getting to train gate through the terminal was a wow experience. Security consists of every person running through the one security area and pushing and shoving to get bags on conveyor belt.

Then the experience of getting to gate. We felt this would be biggest challange, but in fact easy to do. Though tickets written and printed in Chinese the train goes via numeric system. Worked perfectly and easy to find gate. In any event, we made it.

Our time on the train was as uneventful as our time getting to the train.  The train left promptly as  scheduled, arrived promptly as scheduled and the ride could not of been better. They are magnificent trains and the speed of around 160 mph or so is fantastic.

Arrivals come with similar experiences as departures. Chaos upon Chaos.  Everyone rushes off the train and runs to the stairs or gates. Would be much easier if stair were escalators or elevators worked, but  can't expect miracles. We made it and were picked up as agreed upon.

So, would we take the train again. Absolutely. It ws a terrific way to go & much faster and withless trauma   (forget about the mini trauna's). I wish we had similar trains in US and highly recommend to any traveler to China going to multiple cities to make this part of your trip.

“Fast & convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

I have used the fast trains on several occasions. This between Hangzhou, Shanghai, Wuxi, Jiaxing, Suzhou.

Ticket prices are good, second class is good enough. Trains are running on schedule. They are clean. These trains are excellent for any frequent business traveler. E.g. jump in to train Shanghai, get yourself to Wuxi in bit over 30 minutes and then take taxi to final destination.

Can strongly recommend using these high speed trains

“On time, quick, and clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

I have taken the high speed trains in China many times, and there have never been any problems.
Tip: be sure to arrive early as sometimes there are very long lines to buy tickets.

“Wow - amazing - British rail network wake up!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

A business day trip to Nanjing from Shanghai some 300km away. Very much feasible and in great comfort as well! Not only was the train within seconds of schedule it stopped in the exact position with the doors lining up on the platform where indicated. I guess we could only dream about such things in UK?
