Stayed 6 nights in this modern Courtyard, late October 2012. Had time to use the gym, pool, and the lounge area on the 30th floor. Pool requires a "hat" to be worn but i never did (7am), but they never said anything. Theres a sign a hat must be worn but oh well. Gym/workout area is small but modern, clean, tv's, towels. Massage is available on the same floor as the gym.
Its a business hotel, not a place for families with kids maybe, not much around the hotel. Its way cheaper than staying near the Bund/Peoples Square, and way less traffic/people.

Nearest subway station is a easy 5 minute walk, "HuangZhong Road" station. Look both ways when crossing the road, ANYWHERE!!!
Excuse me if i spelled the station wrong, its near Shanghai Railway Station. Please check.

Rooms are comfy, showers nice, mine didnt have a tub. Its a good spot to stay for business travelers, wifi, free food for Marriott elite members, quite. Read the other reviews, but this place is worth the $, and its cheaper than the other Marriotts in town. Tipping in China is not common but tip the bellman, etc., and they'll help you if you're in a jam. Ahhhhh... I miss Shanghai!! Safe travels!

I have stayed in this courtyard for over 30 nights in total in 2012. A 3 times in a row they have put me in the same room. I liked this facility. It's new and the location is descent. The executive lounge has a lot of snacks during the night. You don't have to go out for dinner even. The service at the lounge is pretty good.

However, I do notice their dessert quality for afternoon tea is decreasing. And the pool requires you to buy a hat from the service desk to be able to swim inside while other hotels in shanghai don't ask for. The gym staffs know nothing about service, cold and rude.

Overall, it's a good business hotel with slightly cheaper cost in shanghai.

This is the nicest Courtyard I've ever seen! It's got to be at least 4 stars if not 5 and much nicer than I was expecting. Great location. Excellent staff - all speak good English. Breakfast was very nice and the room was big, clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

We checked into this Courtyard by Marriott after a bad experience at another hotel. It is located on a busy street near the Shanghai train station and within good proximity of some of the major shopping districts. From the start, the staff was gracious, efficient, and accommodating. The lobby is inviting and well staffed. English was spoken by enough of them to enable them to be especially helpful. Getting a room on an upper, non-smoking room at a reasonable rate was not problematic. The king room was clean, bright, and nicely furnished, though I would have preferred a comfortable recliner to the modern-looking seat. Sufficient storage was provided for someone staying four nights. Climate control was easy to regulate. A large selection of television stations included a good sample of English language stations. The shower stall was extra large with great water flow, though the bathroom could have used one or two hooks for towels. The only real negative features were very slow wifi during much of the day and a refrigerator that did not keep items very cold. Overall, the stay was pleasant and I would recommend this hotel to others.
