“Beautiful view, great facilities and great artworks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

We stayed there in October 2012 on Bund River View Room. Room size is decent, bathroom is amazingly big. The shower room which looks over the bund river is amazing, the size is big with a deep tub and a tv as well. There is also a separate bathroom. The room is decorated with the contemporary Asian arts. The gym is pretty big, the pool looks over the bund river. We love the library in level 6, you find mac desktops in each station free to use, lots of books and the big plus is the 2 huge massage chairs. It is a very relaxing place to chill out. The hotel itself has plenty of interesting artworks everywhere. Staff are friendly. We will stay there again. Can't get over the beautiful shower room.

Room Tip: Ask for Bund River View Room.

We had the most wonderful view from our beautiful room, right down the river to the Bund. It was wonderful to be out of the hustle and bussle of the Bund District and yet only a15minute walk right along the River esplanade to the Hotel.
The staff were fantastic and helpful in every way. The view from the bar on the 30th floor is not to be missed. It is a Terrace as well as indoor bar. Perfect lighting and ambience.
The artwork / sculptures in the hotel is local and very appealing.
The room in every respect was outstanding.
The pool too has superb views.

Room Tip: I imagine all the rooms have a beautiful view, but if not, aak for river view

It was my first visit to Shanghai and lots of people were saying the view of the bund is awesome, therefore I pamper myself a little treat and stayed in a newly built boutique hotel, Hotel indigo on the bund. Since my flight arrived late in the evening, so I reserved a limosine service from airport to hotel. It was a nice and smooth ride no traffic all the way and enjoyed the night ride in a E240.

Upon arrival of the hotel, we were greeted by a member of staff and proceed with check-in. The lobby of the hotel is nicely decorated. We were impressed by the room we booked, which is the Premier room on the bund.

First impression of the room, wow spacious! We looked around the room and the view (cant see much coz all lights were out) then we quickly went to check out the bathroom.

Nice bathroom but the sliding wooden door is not working properly and cannot be shut. We tried very hard and still didnt work!!!! It was pretty late so we could not bother to call the reception for help... Then later on when I knee down, I noticed that there was a screw sticking out from the bottom of the door which blocked the sliding door to shut properly.

Secondly, the toilet.. there was a kind of urine smell inside and we have to open the glass door to air it. No ventilation in toilet!!

Third, is the drainage in shower tower..the water didnt rundown the drainage smoothly and the shower area was poorly design! The bathroom was almost flooded coz the water was moving towards the edge of the shower area and we have to sweep the water towards the direction of the drain! Gosh..so hectic!

Overall the hardware is there but software is missing!.. Apart from the detail part is missing..my overall stay is good!

Room Tip: Higher floors less noise

Hi Steve M,

The indigo team appreciate that you took some time to write this review.

We are indeed proud of our unique design (all inspired by our local neighborhood, the Huangpu River, The Bund and Yu Gardens)
We are also pleased you enjoyed our open kitchen style breakfast in Quay.

Very best from the Hotel Indigo team

Nestled on the river and overlooking the historic bund and new pudong metropolis, indigo was perfect.
Amazing views. Exceptional service. Great design - blending old and new. Refreshing, contemporary, but relaxed.
Breakfast was great and being from Melbourne, it was great to get a good coffee in china, a flat white! Won me over straight away.
Rooftop bar and grill, chat, was sublime. Again amazing views.
Only negative, subway was about 15minute walk away, but ferry right at your door and taxis really cheap ($3 your average ride)
Overall, perfect.

We stayed here on recommendation from tripadvisor and thank you everyone. Fabulous. We didn't upgrade to a bigger room so things were a little cramped, but not too bad. Very quiet. The bathroom was excellent and we loved the view down to the river from the shower!
As others have said, don't miss going to the bar on the 28th (?) floor, fabulous views of the lights from both sides of the river.
We made use of the bikes one day and were able to cover a lot of ground that way. Do be very careful on the roads - the green man does not mean you have right of way.
Great views of the weather, river and city from the breakfast restaurant. Even the worksite over the road was interesting.

Room Tip: We asked for a room up high to get away from any street/construction noise.

Stayed here for two nights at end of South China tour. We were fortunate to have a room on 27th floor, because I had accrued lots of hotel points staying at an Intercontinental in Jakarta. The room had wonderful views over the Bund, river and over to the Financial District. Very modern decor with all the facilities you could expect from an up-market hotel. Big bed, large desk, lots of electric sockets and good wifi. Separate bathroom, shower room and toilet, with plenty of equipment. Big seat at foot of bed.

We had dinner at the Char restaurant on I think the 29th floor. Very attentive service and phenomenally good steak, but of course expensive. Good selection of wine and great atmosphere. The Char bar is on 28th, with outdoor area, so you can look down the river. Very buzzy place. Breakfast was on 6th floor, with plenty of variety and excellent service.

This is a hotel with a very mixed clientele - lots of Chinese but also lots of western people, so the hotel caters for a truly international group. We didn't try the pool and gym, because we had not brought our exercise outfits.

Close by - no more than a 10 minute walk down the river, is the Cool Docks, an area of bars and restaurants in renovated dock buildings. We went to an Indian restaurant there on second night - great food and very authentic. The local Shanghai crowd is only just discovering this new "play area", so it was not too crowded, but I suspect at weekends, it is packed.

We would highly recommend this hotel for its position, access to Bund, Cool Docks, old China town, and the stand out facilities.

Room Tip: Try to get a room as high up as possible, as the views are fantastic. Also make sure to get a river...
