“Great day of Biking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2010

This bike tour was one of the most incredible experiences of my time in Shanghai and of my entire life! It was the best way to see the city, our leader were very knowledgeable and fascinating guides. They took us to historical sites as well as back alleys and side streets, so we really got a feel for the entire city. I HIGHLY recommend them to any visitor to Shanghai! Do NOT pass up a chance to bike with them!

“A wonderful way to see the sights in Shanghai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2010

My 22-year old daughter wasn't too excited to take a bike tour, but was convinced to try (I love them). We spent 5 hours on the 'Old Shanghai Exploration Tour,' and she ended up loving the experience. Our guides were terrific, the bikes were great, and the route was very interesting. Biking is a wonderful way to experience an area, and China Cycle Tours is a terrific outfit to do it with.

“Bike tour to Shuzhou”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2009

I stayed 3 weeks in China and I had the opportunity to have a bike tour. I was very happy about the quality of the offered service, well done in a professional way. I will try again as soon I will come back to China again. Some photos are attached.

“A Nice Way to See Shanghai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2009

Shanghai is a massive city, and the sights are too spread out for walking to be a good way to see them. However, a bicycle seems to be just perfect. We took a full day Shanghai Highlights tour, and our guide, Skaf, was a young college student with understandable, but not great English. He was very friendly, though, also a safe rider and very nice guy. We cycled along the tree-lined streets of Xiangyang Park, then wandered the cozy alleyways of the French Concession, with its art galleries and cozy cafes, then through some fairly laid back streets like Tianzifang, before stopping to see ZhouEnlai's Residence (the first Premier of New China). It was a small house with a few exhibits, but really nothing to tell you much, and our guide didn't know much either, so it was just look at it real quick and leave.

Next we biked through the Dongtai Road antique market, was kind of interesting, though most people had the same things, and we weren't really antique collectors. We stopped for lunch at a tiny little local place called Qiao Jia Shan where we had pork dumplings and some other pork things - it was really tiny, really local, and really good.

We biked now to Confucius Temple, which was really pretty and interesting but they did try to get us to buy things in the gift shop really hard. There was a local tour guide here, so she told us all about Confucius which was cool. We also visited the site of the first meeting of the Communist party in China, which again was kind of small, and our guide didn't really contribute to our knowledge of anything. We biked down Shanghai's Oldest Street which was really interesting, but it was the national holiday so it was PACKED with people. We quickly boarded the ferry to cross the river, because the Bund was closed for construction for Expo.

Took a look at the Riverside road, took a couple photos and left - not sure why we didn't go over to Nanjing like we were supposed to, or why we didn't go down the riverside walk a ways, but we were all getting tired by then I think. Biked back to the meeting location.

This was a nice way to see Shanghai. We didn't really learn anything about Shanghai on this tour, as our guide didn't really tell us much about anything, but he was very nice, friendly, and helpful and rode quite safely through the streets of Shanghai. If you are looking to learn about Shanghai's history and have a guide to enlighten you to the city's highlights, this is probably not the tour for you. However, if you want to see some nice parts of the city without getting lost or run over, get a little exercise, experience Shanghai a bit, see some places you might want to explore further, and take some nice photos, this is a tour you will want to consider.
