Summa cum laude. Perfection! The Bund almost inside the bathroom by the huge window. View to the Bund and to the lights of Pudong from the room's window. A kingsize bed with the best linen. Free Illy espresso machine in the room. Both my shoes shined. Super breakfast included. Free wireless internet. Perfect decoration.

First time at Les Suites Orient Shanghai, it is at a great location on Puxi side of the river. I took the Bund Suite, and was given a corner unit with nice views of the bund, river, and Pudong.

The hotel is directly across from the public ferry for easy access to Pudong for a 2 rmb fare, a five minute walk to the metro at Nanjing Lu, and a 1 minute walk to a convenience store for snacks.

Service is attentive and cordial, breakfast is quite good with offerings of western and Asian dishes. The front desk always greeted me by my name. The hotel is well managed and I would definitely recommend this hotel even for my picky friends. Try it.

My wife and I would go the full 5 stars and review as excellent if only they could have a decent wine list in the restaurant. We had a Pudong view room which was suite style with two rooms and excellent fitout and superb view. Loved the high tech loo and everything else like auto window blinds from the bedside control, in bath TV and comfortable King. Some minor flaws with no tonic water in the minibar to go with the gin. 3 TV's but no tonic water. Pluses were free wifi in room and lobby coffee lounge and the lounge had free coffee and bicuits/cake all day and would make an excellent business meeting room. Breakfast terrific, except for the one sided toasters. Close to everything on the Bund, and not far from Yu gardens or Nanjing Rd metro, dont forget to hit the English button when organising the ticket. But for a hotel with lots of western patrons the wine list needs some serious help, particularly with the whites. A Margaret River and/or NZ Sauvignon Blanc would be a start but really a list with only 5 whites and 5 reds and then they were out of the Bordeaux Blanc which might have been OK. The house white was too sweet as were most of the other whites. If they can fix this it will be a really first class experience.

The hotel is great value for their excellent rooms and the quiet, but excellent service they provide. The rooms are excellent and are high tech, especially the toilets - wash - blow dry etc.Shower and bath excellent with some high quality products. Bed was very good, and large flat screen channel and DVD player. Breakfast was good and served well, I fully recommend their egg dishes. Had a meal in the evening and that was high quality and good value.
The room I had was on the 10th floor with an excellent view of the Bund. Amazing to watch the huge number of ships going up and down the river. The Bund is just such a great place to watch people. Very stylish new fashions mixed with traditional fashion.
Location is excellent 2 minutes to the Bund, 10 mins to Old St and the markets and 20 minutes from Nanking Rd.
I really loved Shanghai, but as a single man, I got fed up being propositioned, by young students who wanted me to join them for a drink, even though I am old enough to be their grand father! Everyone else was really friendly and helpful, apart from a taxi driver at The Maglev station from the airport who tried one of the oldest scams of having his meter covered. Unfortunately he got less than the right fair as he wanted to charge 400 Y for a 50 Y trip.
If you are into shopping some amazing high quality shops and Malls but also excellent low cost markets to bargain in.
Try the street food simple and wonderful and so fresh as it is cooked in front of you.
Shanghai an interesting city and the Les Suites is an excellent choice to stay. Simple quality and service in everything it does. Try it and you will be happy.

Room Tip: The higher the room the better. Make sure you have a view of the river.

Great Boutiqe Hotel, Nice Location with views over the Bund. Food and service good. a minus for lacking a Spa. Recommended but next time it will be Park Hyatt. Restaurant and bar have great view aswell. Nice litte afternoon tea bar with complimentary coffe / snacks. Beds are very comfortable. Nice Bathrooms with shower/bath.

Room Tip: No Corner rooms as the windows are small, try to get direct view over Bund to Pudung.

Impessive hotel.....great location....very chic. Lovely view from room of the Bund. Very clean, comfortable and modern. Professional and friendly staff. Breakfast buffet was excellent.
Special mention of Lucy/Lilly, who walked with my husband to the pharmacy to get medication for me, ( wasnt feeling well) as everything was written in Chinese......with a follow up the following day to see how I was feeling!!!
Would stay here anytime I am in Shanghai !!!!

Stan & Harriet

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the Bund.....beautiful!!!!

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending 4 days in Shanghai at the end of a business trip to southern China. Based on our research ( and Trip Advisor ), we chose the Les Suites Orient as our hotel. And what a great choice it turned out to be. We had a room that looked over the river to the Pudong skyline and a view out of the bathroom that looked up the river. Spectacular and at night even better.
The accomodations were good. Comfortable bed, great shower, excellent soaking tub with wonderful river view and all of the amenities you would expect from this grade of hotel. Could the room have been a little bigger - maybe, but we spent so little time in the room that it was not an issue.
The location is fabulous. To get out and walk on the promenade and mingle with the locals was great. We were there at the time of the Autumn Harvest festival and National Day so lots of activity on the promenade. The wall of flowers on this walk was spectacular. we ended up walking almost everywhere covering about 8 miles per day. Quite pleasant walking and lots to see.
The hotel staff were most accommodating in terms of guidance and directions but it is not difficult to find one's way around. Wifi is available in the rooms which makes it easy to stay in touch. Breakfast, which was included, was well presented with a great selection and abundant. We had a couple of dinners in the hotel and the food was very acceptable.
We visited a couple of the other hotels that we had considered and decided that we were very happy with our choice.
I would recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.
