“Pretty much perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012 via mobile

The number one spot on shanghai is well deserved. A corner room overlooking the bund was fantastic at night.
The rooms are excellently designed, bathroom is fantastic and the electronic blinds keep out 99.9% of the light. 11am felt like 11pm- great for sleeping in.
Breakfast included, a great selection. Congee especially good.

Will definitely be back again.

It was my first time in Shanghai and was so lucky to have stayed in this luxurious new hotel.

The room was very spacious, richly interiored with a great view of the Bund.
The bathroom was phenomenal, you have to book there inorder for you to experience it.

The breakfast was good, fine selection of good food and superb style of serving your eggs (omelet, sunny side up, benedict, etc) sounds so simple but the taste were exceptionally great.

Would love to comeback in Shanghai just to experience my hotel stay in Les Suites Orient again.

And lastly, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful to your queries and needs.

Stayed for three nights in a deluxe riverview room on the 18th floor. Excellent view of the bund. Hotel is situated on the quieter south side of the bund, easy walking distance to quite a few places. Easy distance from the ShiLiu Pu Cloth Market (where we bought lots of tailored clothes). This is a luxury hotel and fortunate that we got a special promo price to enjoy it. There is a 24 hour lounge and a high quality breakfast is included in the rate.
Location is great, but not near a metro stop. Although taxis are plentiful to get from there, one rainy night in the french Concession we couldn't get a taxi and had a tough time trying to figure out how to get back. Had to go to Peoples Square and then walk back. Seriously almost 45 minutes spent trying to get a taxi.
Lounge: so nice to be able to sit and relax with a nice cup of tea or coffee, fruit and a selection of treats always available. Nice seating and free computers available here too.
Concierge/registration/bellman: All fantastic. We were always greeted with a friendly smile. Lucky and Jame were very helpful in organizing cars and tours. They even walked us down to ensure we got into our car etc. We we returned they asked how the tour was, that's with all the people they are helping.
Room: excellent beds, so comfortable, gorgeous washroom, separate shower and bathroom. I know lots of people complain about the open toilet, oh well. We had a good giggle with the Toto Washlet toilet.
Breakfast: for us it was a good selection of quality food. Delicious and just right to kick off our day. Staff was very attentive in the restaurant.
Should also note that the General Manager I believe was always around greeting people and making sure guests were happy whether in the restaurant or reception area. Very nice touch.
Highly recommend, even if no promotion available.

Room Tip: definitely take a deluxe room, they're larger and the riverview. High floor is nice too as the...

Stayed in July 2012 whilst doing business in Shanghai.
my overall impression: Les Suites Orientes is a slick & elegant Boutique hotel in an outstanding location.
the detailed review below is structured into categories, so its easier for folks to pick out whats important for each individual:

LOCATION:
6 out of 5.
seriously, the location could hardly be any better.and easily beats most other hotels in Shanghai.
its in the south section of the Bund right in the very center of downtown Shanghai. just south of where Yan An Road (the main west-east axis of central Shanghai) crosses the Bund.
its a perfect spot for tourists to explore Shanghai, and business-travellers arenot far away from the expo-grounds or the main business-districts either.
Tourists on a sightseeing routine can just walk out of the hotels entrance, cross the road, and start walking down the Bund south to north.
Big +:also at the crossing in front of the hotels entrance there are so many taxis driving by, couldnot imagine one ever would have to wait more than a few seconds to get a one.

ROOMS:
Stayed at a corner Suite, room # 1006.
Like the whole hotel theme the rooms are furnished with high quality furnishings in elegant minimalistic design. it has a bit of a "neutral" hotelroom feel and look to it, but on a very high level.
Loved the huge bathroom with a window next to the bath-tub looking out on the northern Bund the bedroom also has superb views from the window facing out at the bund. the "lving-room" of the suite, is basically just to fill up the space between bedroom/bath on one side and the entrance/corridor on the other with a 2nd TV and a couch
The view from the rooms was quite nice, overlooking the freight-vessels cruising on the Huangpu
and the looking out north the historic Bund

SLEEP-QUALITY:
Excellent.
Large bed with a comfortably firm matress and large comfortable pillows.
i found Les Suites Orient to be a rather "quiet" hotel overall anyway, and certainly no noise disturbed at night. the aircondition cools down the room effectiy and quietly.
a very nice touch is the remote-control next to the bed with which to dim all lights and pull down the curtains

SERVICE:
Excellent.
Quick and uncomplicated at Check-In and Check-Out.
Attentive Service at Breakfast

BREAKFAST:
now thats the one thing the hotel definitely could still do bettter if they made an effort.
The breakfast is tasty but the buffet is limited - everything essential of course is there - a self-service espresso-machine, juices, eggstation and bacon, toast, breads and jams ........ compared with most other hotels in that class the choice is relatively narrow.

the breakfast.area is spread out over several seperate rooms - its an unsual layout - a very big kind of a "comuncal" table in the buffet-room, 2- and 4-seaters in the adjacent rooms
the breakfast-area also quickly reaches "capacity". we were lucky to find a table for our own, after checking in 3, 4 rooms and it can get really "packed" in there as the single rooms are not very spacious.

PRICE/VALUE:
note that prices on their website and on online-booking sites are listed EXCLUDING the service-tax which will be an additional 15% on top of the listed prices.
so they really start out from roughly 200 Eur for the smaller Shanghai Studio room category, to around 275 Eur for the Suites and "Bund"-View rooms.
thats not cheap, but considering the excellent location and that this is one of the best hotels in Shanghai its still a fair value.
There are of course other excellent hotels in Shanghai (not in that location though) that cost less than half, so staying at the Les Suites is a small luxury.

NOTE ADDITIONALLY:
Les Suites Orient consists of the lobby/reception on floor 3 + the breakfast/lounge-bar area on floor 2 + the rooms.on the floors above
Thats it.
If you like to go for a swim in the hotel-pool after work or you enjoy going to the Hotel-Spa on your trips maybe better consider to stay at the Puli or other hotels who have those facilities - Les Suites Orient does not.

Also, there is no "real" restaurant within the hotel for lunch/dinner. they do serve breakfast and have a 24-hours lounge-bar.
Thats it.
There is no room-service as a consequence.
Being balanced though - who will miss a hotel-restaurant if so many of the best restaurants in Shanghai are within a few minutes taxi ride ?

Room Tip: Room-numbers XX06, XX07,XX08 and XX09 are facing east towards the Huangpu river XX10 faces south, a...

We stayed here for a week with our two young girls and were treated like royalty. The staff and the manager were exceptionally kind and helpful and the hotel is great in every way. The location is perfect (the only other location I would consider is The French Concession area, but that's within easy reach from here). The interior is "boutique-chic", quality materials and muted colors (reminiscent of the Tokyo Park Hyatt). Rooms are big with magnificent views and there is a large free lounge area with coffee, fruit, snacks etc. and we were given many other complimentary "perks". We could not have wished for a better stay in Shaghai – and we're rather picky about hotels. I truly wish there there was a place (with staff) like this in every city.

Certainly the best hotel for service and facilities I have ever stayed in. Very much worth the price given the room size, room appointments, excellent breakfast and 24 hour third floor longe with Bund views. Terrific location though a bit of a walk from the subway. Don't be put off by the outside looks - it has everything inside. Impressed by the level of service and presentation of staff compared to other China hotels.

Room Tip: Don't forget there is a choice of city or Bund views.

We stayed 4 nights in late June 2012. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left we were provided with excellent service, a drink upon arrival and a newspaper as we left, not to mention the fruit plate in the room daily.
Breakfast was included and well worth the difference. A choice of American style or Asian, providing lots of options.
The location on the Bund could not have been more convenient. Close enough to M on the Bund and Glamour Bar to walk (even in light rain). We enjoyed a morning jog on the Bund and a quick ferry ride across the river to Pudong. We would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for the Deluxe River View...
