“Very nice hotel, with just some small details... ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

Wonderful hotel. Really loved my stay here. Staff was very polite and willing to help, room was quite luxurious, and lots of nice touches.
The bed was comfortable, the minibar is nicely stocked, the features of the shaded windows and remote controlled curtains, etc. all make it quite an enjoyable place to stay. I was very comfortable here.
The only reason I didn't give this place five stars is because of some of the small details of the place.
While the shower is extravagantly beautiful, the rainforest shower head was old and didn't work until I flicked each individual rubber spout to get them running again. Some of the switches for lights and things didn't work the first (or second or third) time, and the power outlets are not super conveniently located. I cannot be the only person who wants an outlet right next to the bed so I can charge my phone and set an alarm to wake up.... The carpet was stained in a few places. But the desk and office station (with Ethernet cables and power outlets and converters and such was very nice.
The view was... Underwhelming. Probably just the way I was facing, but it was very industrial and not very attractive. I don't care about that.
Perhaps my biggest gripe with he hotel (especially had I been a tourist) is its location. To get to a part of Shanghai I would want to walk around and see or window shop or actually do anything is about a fifteen minute cab ride (about ¥25) with no traffic. It is NOT in a location where you can walk outside and down the street and grab a drink at a bar or get a bite, and I can see that being very disappointing for tourists wanting to enjoy their surroundings.
Aside from that, for a business traveler who wants to get off work and go back to a comfortable, quiet, relaxing hotel, it is nearly perfect.

Everything is very good at this hotel, only little outside of everything and no metro near hotel. Lobby is big and spacious. Rooms are clean and nice. View to river fine and personal kind.
Breakfast was super good and even roomservice.

Stayed here for 4 nights in April. Has a Jr. Suite on the 35th floor. The place was spotless, roomy, and comfortable. Service was excellent and included turn down service and fresh towels in the evenings. CNN and English language movie channels were available. The staff was friendly and helpful trying to make sure all of my needs were met, even when their English was limited. The variety, flavor and quality of Western or Chinese buffet breakfasts was surprising - with chef stations to make your omelets or carve your breakfast meats. It was well worth spending a few extra minutes by taxi to get to and from work to stay there! The hotel is a bit off of the beaten path and not in the tourist or financial districts, nor is it by the new exhibition halls.

Room Tip: Ask for a "high floor" with a view of the river.

We stayed here for two nights, during a 13 day tour of China. This was our last stop and the tour operator certainly left the good wine to the last! It is a sumptuous hotel. We were on the 25th floor of a 39 story hotel, looking out on the Pu river. We could see the Shanghai Financial Services skyscraper across the river, in the new Pudong region. Everything about this hotel was on a grand scale. The rooms were unbelievable, with floor to ceiling glass windows 25 floors up, giving a view that was not for the feign-hearted! Between the bathroom and the bedroom there was an opaque glass wall but there was a switch that when pressed, the opaque wall became clear see-through! Never came across this novelty before and it was unusual, to say the least!. Staff were all very helpful and friendly and the swimming pool (25 meters) and spa area were similarly spacious. Massages were really good, even though there was no background music, scented candles or other trappings normally found in European spas. They just concentrated on the massage. The choices in food were fantastic and any taste was careered for.

Room Tip: Shanghai is such a vast city, it's hard to pick a location that is convenient to everywhere. As...

I had a king corner room with a wonderful view of the Bridge. The room was amazingly large! It had a shower and bath with skyline views. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. It is adjacent to a very large park, and there are some food and quickie shops around the corner for basics. One drawback is that it is far from any subway entrances, so taxi is your only option for transport. I got a good rate with a group staying there, so it was worth the travel time to gets places. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Corner rooms with bridge view are amazing, if you can snag one.
