“Living in the clouds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

Up there with the best of them, this hotels delivers fantastic service and luxury coupled with a great location and amazing views of the city.
Upon being swiftly checked in I was taken to my suite which boasted views for miles and had a bathroom almost the same size with enormous walk in rain shower.
The concierge were particularly helpful as I was there for the Biennale and had dozens of locations to visit on a tight schedule and they had everything down in Chinese and English and a limo driver on call within 20 minutes!
Sadly I only managed to make use of the Spa facilities once due to work but would highly recommend them as the standard was very high and perfect after a long day rushing around Shanghai.
Great food both in the restaurant and on room service too but cocktails at sunset in the cloud line overlooking the city is when the magic happens...

If you're staying in the city whether business or pleasure and what the best, look no further.

Park Hyatt Shanghai is undoubtedly one of the most luxurious hotels in the city. Its minimalist understated elegance is apparent as soon as you arrive at the hotel entrance, where you’re guided through a maze of industrialist grey walls lit with mood lighting to the lifts to get you up to the hotel reception on the 87th floor.

I felt as if I was transported into an uber cool European private club, where everything is shrouded in secrecy. The signages and lift buttons are very discreet, and you have to really look hard to find out where you’re going. As you would expect from a top-end hotel, the service is first-class, although they could do with having more staff on reception in the mornings during peak checkout periods.

The theme permeates through to the room – although minimalist and industrial, the room does exude a sense of warmth. It’s modern, avant-garde, and you can expect all your mod-comms in the room. I was particularly impressed by the huge bathroom with his and hers sinks, giant bath tub and rainshower which really made you feel like you’re showering in the Amazon. Finding the toilet was a bit of a mission, as it was well-hidden behind a grey door that blended into the wall.

The food at the hotel restaurant on the 91st floor was scrumptious, and the view is probably the best in the city. There’s an impressive wine list and cocktail menu that accompanies the food menu, which had a great selection from grill to seafood to Korean.

All in all, although you can’t fault the quality and service of the hotel, personally, I prefer hotels that are just a little more traditional, and doesn’t come across as trying so hard. After all, after a long day of sightseeing or working, the last you’d want to do when you get to the hotel is to look uncool fumbling for the lift buttons and turning down the wrong corridor.

Superb rooms with views to match. Lunch on the 91st floor was great value and delicious with the atmosphere being refined and non intrusive. The room was full of luxuries that you cant but enjoy. Bit of a pain with two lifts every time you come in and out of the hotel but small distraction.

This hotel is not for those with a fear of heights... the lobby starts on the 86th floor! views of shanghai are incredible. the design and architecture is very high tech, and I stayed there for 7 nights, so for an extended stay it maybe was a little less "cozy" than I would normally prefer, but still very high end. the toto toilets are amazing! also, their off menu ice cream in the main lobby restaurant is incredible after eating spicy chinese food!

Great view and stunning rooms. Service is better than average for Shanghai but far far below international average standards. I suppose it reflects how difficult it is to hire good staff in China. General lack of training or experience....eg. Pancakes served without syrup listed on menu. Also, at the restaurant, i was told that all tables were full but when i asked for a seat at the bar, I was given a table and saw 6 further empty tables?

Love this property. From the moment you arrive, you walk through a maze of doors in a dark hallway (a little strange, but cool) and are whisked to the 87th floor lobby. If the view was the only thing going for this place, I would still stay here. Thankfully, it is one of the nicest Park Hyatt properties I have been to.

The staff remembered my name when I came back, and always showed the ultimate courtesy with guests.

Do make sure to end your day with a drink on the 91st floor bar. Much less expensive than I had expected, and the views were most impressive.
