Breakfast poor for Westerners. Reception was very slow on Checkout like 45 minutes because of que. Room was clean, shower room was OK. Two water bottles supplied every day in room. Some towels were a bit thin.

Stayed 4D3N for business travel and can't believe it is under a world class group. This hotel is far below standard. Funny thngs are everywhere and everyday :
1. The corridor is under renovation on Friday but no cover or no worker on Sat and Sun
2. No hair dryer in the room and insufficient in qty.
3. Day 2 - No towel replenished after cleaning
4. Day 3 - No bottle water replenished.
5. No air conditioning. The front office said as the temperature is not hot enough, the whole block will have no air condition. Please state when I booked the room clearly. I tried to open the window but flies and mosquitoes come.
6. I arrived on Thurs night and the two front office staffs are not wearing uniforms. I suspected it is a family business hotel.
7. The breakfast is served on g/f and the floor is dirty and tables are not cleaned.
8. The toilet was out of maintenance. The flush control broken and the toilet bowl not so working.

In conclusion, a Black Listed hotel.

Dear honoured guest:

Thank you for staying at ibis Shanghai Lianyang Hotel and for bringing this case to our attention. We apologize for the problem during your stay. The hotel has taken considerable action as a follow-up on your complaint including:

1. I am so apologize about the carpet replacement that we express wish upgrade the corridor in order to incompliance the guest satisfaction. Please forgive us the inconvenience caused to you and we will pay more attention on this project and dedicate one person to monitor.

2.The good news that we will install the hair dryer in each room and this project would be finished before 15th May, 2014.

3.For the housekeeping service department we push the pressing to the housekeeper manager to enhance their training force and double check each room both supervisor and manager in order to keep all rooms are same standard. Avoid this kind thing happen again. I am so sorry cannot approach your expectation this time but we can try our best to arrange good high quality room cleanness for the next time.

4.For the air-condition please kindly understand due to this is the central air-condition if it is open the cold that means all the rooms as the same temperature so depending the weather situation that we choose open the fresh fan with air-condition. Anyway it is not approach your expectation it’s our fault we need supply the fan for you and solve your request at first.

5.For the uniform we already apply the new and training the polite grooming and greeting please kindly give us one chance to be professional and good serve for you in the future.

6.We already recruit more staff for restaurant and training them the hygiene standard and check each day by the duty manager.

7.We push the engineer check all the guest room before we sold and monitor their job each day.

First thing first, the receptionist are not friendly at all, they gave you faces, reply our demand in an unfriendly way, and not talked much English.
Secondly, the most basic equipment a hotel should provide, were not there, there are no hair dryer, no water boiler, and when we asked for one, we have to "beg".
Corridor is badly smell of smoke, even though there are so many signs or "No Smoking", but the smell still could went inside to our room.

Sound proofing is terrible, we can heard some door closing from upstairs.

Don't mention the shower, water runs so slow, there is no way we could took a fast shower.

Air conditioning is not working at all.With the smell of smoke coming from outside and not enough exhaust fan, the only ventilation is to open the window.

I have stayed at a few IBIS hotels in the past year but am likely to not stay at another.

If you want only cheap it is fine but otherwise spend an extra few RMB and get a place with a comfortable bed, a bathroom bigger than a small closet and a towel thicker than a piece of paper.

The internet was LAN so worked well. I could not get WiFi to work but that could have been operator error.

The location is very good with many shops and restaurants within a few steps.

The room cleaning staff does not respect the DO NOT DISTURB sign. Really a turn off for me.

Not likely to return.

Stayed during Shanghai Auto Expo in 2013 as this place was close to exhibition center. The reception staff is good for nothing and will make faces if you ask for any assistance about local area. They will not communicate in English even they knew how to do that. Lobby was always full of pimps distributing escort services cards. They can easily get access to room area and every day I will find new such cards on my bed. So not a safe place, guys beware. Worst hotel to stay in Shanghai.
